Inner Mongolia Man Released after Procuratorate Declines to Press Charges

May 12, 2018 |   By a Minghui correspondent in Inner Mongolia

(Minghui.org) A Chifeng City resident was released after the local procuratorate declined to press charges against him.

Mr. Zhang Xiuqi, around 40, was arrested in early March 2018 for refusing to renounce Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline being persecuted by the Chinese communist regime.

Ms. Zhang Yumei (no relation to Mr. Zhang) and Mr. Liu Cheng, two other local Falun Gong practitioners, were arrested weeks later, on March 19.

Chen Zhaoyang, deputy chief of Hongmiaozi Police Station, was responsible for the three practitioners' arrests.

The local procuratorate ruled to not file an indictment against Mr. Zhang, citing insufficient evidence. Mr. Zhang returned home about two months after his arrest.
