(Minghui.org) Ms. Ban Huijuan from Huadian City, Jilin Province, started to practice Falun Gong in 1998. After the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) started to persecute Falun Gong in July 1999, she was subjected to one year of forced labor for speaking out for Falun Gong in Beijing, taken to a brainwashing center, and sentenced to 12 years in prison.

After enduring inhuman physical and mental torture, she was released in 2012.

Ms. Ban was arrested with her husband on June 3, 2002. At various times during her interrogations, the authorities beat her, tied her limbs to a bed, almost suffocated her, and poured ice water over her head. Details of her torture were reported in a previous Minghui article. Ms. Ban and her husband were sentenced to 12 years in prison on November 5, 2002. Their son was left on his own with no income.

Because Ms. Ban refused to give up her practice of Falun Gong, Jilin Province Women's Prison personnel tied her up, stretched her on a bed, deprived her of sleep, injected her with unknown drugs, forced her to drink urine, beat her, and made her do hard labor.

“They tied my limbs on the stretching bed without the slightest wiggle room for 21 days straight. I was fed while being tied down and had to relieve myself on the bed as well. My internal organs felt like they were being roasted over a fire and were about to explode. The pain was beyond words.

“When I was finally released from the bed, I could not move my arms. My memory was damaged and I drew a blank all the time. They took me downstairs and pressured me to write statements to denounce Master and Falun Gong. I just kept telling myself that I had to stick to what I knew was right and that my main consciousness had to stay strong. There was nothing else in my mind at the time.

“Whenever I dreamed about the pain from being tied on the bed, I would wake up and start to scream. My cellmates were frightened and had a hard time sleeping. The guards took me to the hospital.

“About a dozen strong women held me down and injected me with unknown drugs that further damaged my brain and my memory. They also gave me unknown pills every day. I hid them under my tongue and spat them out later, but they still numbed my entire tongue. After I was taken back to my cell, I could not remember any of Master's articles that I used to be able to recite.

“In October 2003, I was tied to the stretching bed again for over 20 days. This was in the fall and I only had thin clothes on. The freezing cold caused me to lose control of my bladder. Then they forced me to sit on a small chair, made me stay awake all day and all night, and ordered me to write statements to give up my practice of Falun Gong. They also forced me to drink their urine that they gathered in a soapbox and the filthy water from a soaking floor mop.

“In the winter, they forced me to stand barefoot in a cold room and poured cold water over my head every ten minutes for three days and nights. Several people beat and kicked me in a room with the TV volume as loud as it would go so no one could hear me screaming. I had just one thought in my mind at the time: 'As long as I am alive, I'd rather occupy this torture room so other practitioners don't have to suffer this.'

“After three days of freezing and beatings, I was extremely weak and thin, and my skin was turning purple. The guards took me to the hospital and injected me with an unknown drug.

“In 2007, I was assigned to do hard labor in the prison workshop. I was watched carefully and prevented from getting in contact with other practitioners from Huadian City. I was only allowed to work with one other practitioner, Ms. Gao Defen, and they feared that we would have a ‘negative’ impact on the rest of the workforce.”
