Falun Gong Practitioners Stripped Naked and Humiliated in Harbin Detention Center

May 10, 2018 |   By a Falun Gong Practitioner in Heilongjiang Province, China

(Minghui.org) If I didn't experience it myself, I could have never imagined the severity of the torture and mental torment inside the hellish No. 2 Detention Center in Harbin, Heilongjiang Province.

Stripped Naked and Forced to Jump

Because I practice Falun Gong, I was arrested and taken to the No. 2 Detention Center in Harbin. Anyone who was detained there, whether or not it was a Falun Gong practitioner, was first subjected to a humiliating body search in which two inmates stripped off all of their clothes in front of dozens of other inmates and forced them to jump three times with their legs spread wide apart. The inmates would also check their private parts to see if anything was hidden there.

In some cases, the guards gave all of the practitioners' clothes, including their underwear, to the police station where they were arrested. Before the practitioners' families sent them clothes, they didn't have anything to wear and had to ask for castoffs from other detainees.

All of the guards, both male and female, could see the practitioners on the surveillance cameras installed in their cells.

Every time a practitioner left the cell and returned, either after meeting with their lawyer or answering police questions, the inmates would again strip them naked and force them to jump in order to humiliate them.

Physical Torture

In the first few months after we got there, we were forced to get up at 4 a.m. and sit up straight on a small stool without moving for the entire day. The only time we were allowed to move was to use the restroom. On our way to the restroom, the guards forced us to bend over as we walked.

Each person was allowed to use the restroom five or six times each day but only for two minutes at a time. If you didn't finish in time, the guards would drag you away from the toilet.

Even though some practitioners had problems relieving themselves for weeks or even a month, the guards still forced them to eat three full meals every day, otherwise they would force-feed them.

All we ever got was a thin vegetable soup. The quality of the food only improved when outside groups came to visit. After the visitors left, we got the same thing again.

The guards didn't allow Falun Gong practitioners to talk to anyone. If they found two practitioners talking to each other or one helping one another, the practitioners would have to clean the cells and restrooms from morning to evening for several days. The inmates could beat and verbally abuse us whenever they felt like it.

It was so crowded in the cells that we could only sleep on our sides, all the inmates sandwiched up against each other on the floor. I had difficulty breathing, and my hips and legs ached. It was very hard to fall asleep.

At the entrance to each room was a suggestion box, but it was merely a decoration, as none of us were allowed to have pen or paper, nor were we ever allowed to express our concerns or complaints.
