81-Year-Old Woman Given Second 3-Year Prison Term for Her Faith

April 04, 2018 |   By a Minghui correspondent in Jiangsu Province

(Minghui.org) A native of Jingjiang City was given a second 3-year prison term for refusing to renounce Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline being persecuted by the Chinese communist regime.

Ms. Geng Yingfeng became healthy after she began practicing Falun Gong in 1996. She never hesitated to tell people about her positive experiences with Falun Gong after the persecution began in 1999. Her simple act of saying fair words for Falun Gong has landed her in police custody on numerous occasions.

The 81-year-old woman was first sentenced to three years in prison in late 1999 or early 2000. She suffered brutal torture throughout her imprisonment. She was once tied up so tightly that the rope cut info her flesh and exposed her bones. She bled profusely and lost consciousness as a result.

Her son bought her a house in Nanjing City, about 120 miles away from her hometown, after she was released from prison. The Jingjiang police tracked her down and arrested her in Nanjing on November 6, 2012. Her mother, who was 94 at the time and lived with her, was so traumatized that she passed away soon afterwards.

Ms. Geng filed a criminal complaint in June 2015 against former Chinese dictator Jiang Zemin for initiating the persecution of Falun Gong. She received more harassment from Jingjiang police, who arrested her on August 15, 2017.

Ms. Geng was brought back to Jingjiang and detained for 16 days. She returned to Nanjing afterwards, only to be arrested again on December 7. The Jingjiang police took her straight to Jingjiang Court for an unannounced hearing. They released her 20 days later.

Ms. Geng was ordered to appear in Jingjiang City Court again on March 22, 2018. Judge Wang Pin sentenced her to 3 years at the end of the second hearing. The Taixing Prison refused to accept her due to her health, and she was then released on bail.
