(Minghui.org) A grown woman has been reduced to about 35 pounds while serving time for her faith, and her family is calling for her immediate release.
Ms. Wang Quandi was arrested on March 19, 2014 for refusing to renounce Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline being persecuted by the Chinese communist regime. She was sentenced to six years in prison on July 18 that year.
The Shanghai Women's Prison launched a round of intensive brainwashing around March 2015 to try to force imprisoned practitioners to give up their belief in Falun Gong. Ms. Wang went on a hunger strike in protest. Her health quickly deteriorated and she was sent to Shanghai Hospital, where she remains.
Her family hasn't been allowed to see her since her hospitalization. They became extremely worried when they learned recently that she weighed less than a typical four-year-old girl.
