Tianjin Women's Prison: An Institution of Forced Labor and Brainwashing

April 24, 2018 |   By a Minghui correspondent from Tianjin, China

(Minghui.org) Tianjin Women's Prison is notorious for its attempts at brainwashing Falun Gong practitioners into renouncing their beliefs. It is therefore one of the key prison facilities to have met the “standard” of the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) persecution on Falun Gong.

The Tianjin Women's Prison states that all prisoners have an eight-hour workday with a half-hour meal break, in addition to a two-hour study period, twice per week.

Falun Gong practitioners, however, are required to work nearly 12 hours with a 10-minute break time. They have high-intensity workloads that start at 6:20 a.m. and continue until 6:00 pm. The so-call study period specifically targets Falun Gong practitioners.

Prison authorities put great effort into forcing Falun Gong practitioners to renounce their beliefs by process of “transformation.” Following a practitioner’s “transformation,” the practitioner is required to attend numerous activities defaming Falun Gong. There are annual and quarterly activities, and additional activities held during important CCP events. Practitioners are then forced to praise the CCP and to defame and renounce the practice of Falun Gong and its founder.

Wang Jingxiang refused to report her thoughts and defame Falun Gong in writing, as is required as a contribution to the CCP's 19th National Congress. She was then stripped naked during the winter and forced to stand facing an open window. The guards were sent in to humiliate her.

Tianjin Women's Prison extends the persecution outside of the prison facility and harasses former prisoners after their release. A group of guards, led by guard Zhou Jing, have harassed practitioners six months after they left the prison. They took videos and photos of the harassment visits to former prisoners.

Zhou Jing was praised for doing a good job and being creative when the pictures were presented to his superiors.
