(Minghui.org) I saw a man in his 70s sitting on the side of the road in 2013. He seemed to be waiting for someone. I decided I would tell him him about Falun Gong, and he interrupted me and excitedly asked, “Do you practice Falun Gong? Is the founder of Falun Gong 'the Falun King' who came to Earth to save sentient beings?”

I answered yes to both questions, then I asked him how he knew. He said, “Can you lend me your Dafa book to read?” I said, “Yes, but only if you truly want to learn Falun Gong.” He said that he has been waiting 20 long years to learn it.

He then began telling me about his life. He used to work at a crematorium, but quit because he didn't like working there. Later, he supported himself by taking on various part-time jobs.

He told me that he had always regarded “work” as a form of hardship, and longed for a life of ease and comfort. Thus, it was no coincidence that he began to unwittingly align himself with gang members who indulged in eating, drinking, smoking, and criminal activities.

He was later caught and sentenced to eight years in prison. The suffering that he endured in prison made him realize that every wrong deed one commits must be repaid by suffering hardship.

When he was released from prison, he sought to change his life by practicing Buddhism. One day, he visited an old monastery monk. The monk noticed that the man was very pious and gave him a Buddhist scripture to read.

The man read the scripture very carefully then came upon a section where “the Falun King” was mentioned, saying that he would personally come down to the secular world to spread his teachings and save sentient beings.

When he read this passage, he excitedly asked, "Who is the Falun King? Has he already come to the human world?" When the old monk was unable to answer his questions, the man left the monastery and stopped reading Buddhist scriptures.

He lived alone for the next 20 years, begging for food and waiting for “the Falun King” to appear.

On July 20, 1999, Jiang Zemin, the then head of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), initiated the persecution of Falun Gong and slandered it on China's state-run TV stations. When the old man found out about it, he thought, “Is the founder of Falun Gong the Falun King I've been looking for?”

When he told me that there were no Falun Gong practitioners in the remote rural area where he lived, I decided to lend him a copy of Zhuan Falun, the main book of Falun Gong.

He was excited to receive it and respectfully accepted it with both hands extended. When he opened the book he said, “All the words are magically glittering!”

One night, I went to the countryside to distribute Falun Gong informational materials. I saw an old man intently reading a book under a street light. I walked up to him to see what he was reading. It was Zhuan Falun. He was the old man whom I had previously met!

He was so absorbed in reading the book that I had to call out his name several times before he answered. I asked him why he didn't read the book at home, as it was late. He then showed me where he lived. It was a small place of only a few square yards, underneath a wide eave of someone's home. There was virtually nothing inside it.

When I saw that he had put his heart into practicing Dafa, I said, “If you want to sincerely practice Falun Gong, you need to read more than 40 books that Master Li has written.”

The old man replied, “I want to read all of the books. Dafa is extremely precious. In addition, I should not cultivate alone. I need to live in the city and work with the other practitioners so that we can all improve together.”

Over the past few years, this new practitioner happily joined the others in distributing Dafa-related materials to the surrounding villages. He often carried several hundred copies of brochures to distribute door-to-door.

One day, he was reported by someone and taken away by the police. At the detention center, he was forced to undergo a complete medical exam. He thought,“Master, saving sentient beings is such an urgent task. I need to leave this place immediately!”

With this thought in mind, his blood pressure suddenly shot up to 200. The doctor examining him became alarmed and refused to accept him into the detention center.

After he was released, he studied the Fa, sent righteous thoughts, and continued to raise awareness of the CCP's persecution of Falun Gong.

I feel that he has been very diligent in keeping up with the progress of the Fa-rectification!
