Woman, 70, Disabled in Prison and Denied Medical Parole

April 11, 2018 |   By a Minghui correspondent in Liaoning Province

(Minghui.org) A 70-year-old woman became disabled as a result of the abuse she suffered in prison, but the authorities have refused to grant her medical parole.

Ms. Wang Guifu is a native of Yongji County, Jilin Province. She was arrested on June 27, 2016, while visiting her relative in Dalian City, Liaoning Province. She was targeted after being reported for talking to people about Falun Gong on the phone.

Falun Gong is a spiritual discipline based on the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. It has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since July 1999.

Ms. Wang's family was informed on December 9, 2016, that she had been sentenced to three years in prison. Her loved ones did not know when she was tried.

Ms. Wang has been subjected to various forms of abuse since she was admitted to Liaoning Province Women's Prison on February 7, 2017. Her family learned recently that she could no longer walk and that all her dentures were missing.

The prison rejected her family's request for medical parole, saying she was not sick enough.
