(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioners held an event in Trafalgar Square on March 23 to celebrate 300 million people separating themselves from the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and its affiliated organizations. They also talked with residents and visitors about the benefits they have received from practicing Falun Gong.

Communism Is a Threat to All

Patrick Hayden speaks with a couple about Falun Gong.

The Chinese Communist Party banned Falun Gong in 1999, and the brutal persecution has lasted 19 years, said practitioner Patrick Hayden. “In fact, communism is a threat to all mankind because it undermines morality,” he added. “People will know this sooner or later.” He said that the suppression of Falun Gong must stop and that the large-scale global “Quitting the CCP” movement is a big push for this to happen.

Patrick and other practitioners believe that events to raise public awareness are critical because they help people understand the brutality and lies of the Chinese regime.

Uplifting Minds

Lasitha Senanayake has been spending time at tourist sites in London every Saturday for the past several years. During the March 23 event, many people asked him about Falun Gong, and he was happy to tell them about the benefits he has received from the practice.

“I used to have a bad temper, and the practice has made me calmer and more tolerant,” he said.

Because quite a few people were interested in meditation, Lasitha shared with them the physical and spiritual improvements he has experienced from doing the Falun Gong meditation. People can easily understand what Falun Gong is all about from talking with practitioners.

More People Need to Know the Facts

Tili Nesbit talks with a man from the Netherlands, who thanked her and signed a petition calling for an end to the persecution.

Tili Nesbit, who lives in London, said that 300 million people quitting the CCP organizations is a milestone. “This indicates that many Chinese citizens have recognized the Party's true nature and are willing to cut ties with the regime,” she said. “I hope that even more Chinese people can join them since this is important for their future.”

On one occasion, Tili talked with a Chinese man in Chinatown. She explained how Falun Gong has benefited practitioners and society, and how innocent practitioners in China are mistreated for their belief. The man nodded and agreed to quit the CCP organizations. Tili felt very happy for him and tries to reach out to Chinese people as much as she can so that more can also make the right decision.

Patrick said that he often goes to the British Museum, a popular tourist site, to talk with Chinese visitors and debunk the hate propaganda they've heard back in China. “I can tell that some of them are still scared to speak with us or accept our informational materials. But as we continue to work on it, I think the situation will change.”

Because of the 19-year-long persecution in China, many Chinese people have been misled by the propaganda and have become hostile to practitioners and Falun Gong's principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. “This is not good for them. So I will continue telling them the real story and my experience,” Patrick said. “I think they will begin to think about it for themselves someday.”
