An Encounter with an Undercover Police Officer

October 25, 2018 |   By a Falun Dafa practitioner in China

(Minghui.org) I started practicing Falun Dafa (also known as Falun Gong) in 1997. In the fall of 2008, I was working at a private machinery company. I worked well with others, and I was always good at finishing my assignments without wasting the company's raw materials.

The company hired several new employees: some were welders and others were machine tool workers. We all worked in the same workshop. One of the new hires was a young man in his 30s. Because he was new to the company and not familiar with the workshop, I tried to help him as much as I could.

One day, he was trying to weld something, but couldn't get the welder started. I checked his equipment and realized the ground wire was not connected. I fixed his equipment and found a welding cap for him to protect his eyes. I even helped him to weld a few parts. Afterward he seemed very touched because other workers didn't seem to care to help.

When we were chitchatting, he asked how long I had been working there. I told him that I had been there for several months and that I was a machinist. Because there was no work for machine tools at the moment, I was just helping here and there. He told me that he used to be a military police officer. After he was demobilized, he worked in the police department. Then he said that he had noticed me when he first joined the company. He wanted to get to know me and use me to get to more Falun Gong practitioners.

I suddenly realized that he was an undercover police officer who was sent to monitor me. He told me that he had gotten another practitioner arrested at another company. I said, “Falun Gong has been wrongfully accused. We practitioners do not get involved in politics. We don't have any organization. All we want is to expose the Party's lies and clear the names of Falun Gong and our Teacher. We don't want power.”

After hearing my explanation of Falun Dafa and the facts, he was quiet for a while. He then told me that he had been working undercover at several of the local companies. His job was to monitor social trends, focusing on Falun Gong practitioners and other religious people. He complained that he didn't feel that he could blend in no matter where he went. I said, “Your motivation is not good. Working people just want to do a good job and make a living. But you monitor them secretly, so it's hard for you to find common ground with people.”

He smiled and said that he didn't want to do this job anymore. I advised him not to continue this type of work. He told me that he couldn't bear to see how other police officers tortured Falun Gong practitioners. He said, “I don't want to see you in a detention center.” He pointed to his red motorcycle and said, “If you see anyone riding this motorcycle, be sure to stay away.” I knew what he meant. The red motorcycles were given to undercover police officers. He didn't want to see me arrested.

I left that company not long after that encounter. One day, I happened to pass by the police department and saw that young man. I hope he can wake up to the truth and choose a bright future for himself.
