Controlling My Feelings of Annoyance

January 29, 2018 |   By Juan Zi, a Falun Gong practitioner in New York

(Minghui.org) I always look forward to our group Fa-study sessions after work every day. Other practitioners and I read two lectures of Zhuan Falun each day, and afterwards I feel fulfilled and confident that I'm on the right path.

One day, however, an elderly practitioner kept coughing so loudly that the sound drowned out our reading. The others soon also began coughing and some even got up and walked around. It became difficult to focus on what we were reading, and I was unhappy. I decided to leave as soon as we finished reading one lecture.

As I waited for an opportunity to leave I suddenly thought about the practitioners in China who are still being persecuted. In that harsh environment they overcome interference that is much worse than a coughing elderly practitioner.

No matter what challenges they encounter, they remain steadfast in believing in Master and studying the Fa! Here in my comfortable environment overseas, how could I so easily give up and walk away from the chance to study the Fa with others?

Master said, “‘It’s hard to endure, but you can endure it. It’s hard to do, but you can do it.’” (Zhuan Falun)

I decided to calm down and focus on reading each sentence, instead of being annoyed by a practitioner's coughing.

The practitioner stopped coughing soon afterward and began to read more clearly than usual. The others also stopped coughing and moving around and focused on reading.

Our Fa-study that day was very peaceful and satisfactory.
