Yingkou Labor Bureau Illegally Withheld Practitioners' Retirement Pensions

January 21, 2018 |   By a Minghui correspondent in Liaoning Province, China

(Minghui.org) The Yingkou Labor Bureau in Liaoning Province sued Falun Gong practitioners Ms. Li Huigang, Ms. Ni Xiuhua and Ms. Wang Ying at the Xishi District Court in mid-November 2017, attempting to deprive them of their retirement pensions.

Ms. Li was arrested in November 2014 when she talked to people about Falun Gong and was sentenced to two years in prison. She was released in November 2016. The Yingkou Social Security Department withheld Ms. Li's retirement pension in the latter half of 2017, so she went to talk to them. The managers gave her the runaround and told her that she had to go to the appeals bureau.

Ms. Ni from Gaizhou was sentenced to four years and was released from prison in December 2016. Ms. Wang was also sentenced to four years and was released in July 2016.

At the end of 2017, they both were notified that their retirement pensions which they should have received during the period they were imprisoned would not be given to them. When they went to the Gaizhou Labor Bureau to inquire about the matter, the staff showed them a 2017 document. They then went to see the head of the bureau. He showed them a 2001 document and insisted that their retirement pension would be withheld.

To legalize withholding their pensions, the Yingkou Social Security Department filed suits against the three practitioners in December 2017.
