(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 13 cities or counties in 6 provinces. According to this report, 6 Falun Gong practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention, and at least 20 were illegally arrested.

1. [Kangping County, Liaoning Province] Mr. Bai Guoyu Officially Placed Under Arrest

Mr. Bai Guoyu was arrested by officers from the Zhennan Police Station on July 3, 2017 for posting Falun Gong-related signs in public. He was held at Kangping County Detention Center, and was recently officially placed under arrest.

2. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Ms. Yu Guixiang Passed Away During Detention

Ms. Yu Guixiang, 65, from Jiutai District, was arrested by officers from the Jiutai Police Department's Domestic Security Division on June 16, 2017 for talking to people about Falun Gong. She was held at Jiutai Detention Center. She passed away within four days. Her son confronted the injustice against his mother. Eventually he was paid 200,000 yuan by the public security system as compensation for his mother's wrongful death.

3. [Ankang City, Shaanxi Province] Ms. Luo Changyun and Ms. Ye Cuilan Sentenced to Prison

Ms. Luo Changyun, 63, a retired teacher from Yonghong Middle School, was arrested by officers from the Hanbin Police Department on June 23, 2016. She was sentenced to four years in prison by the Hanbin District Court on April 10, 2017. Ms. Luo appealed to the Ankang City Intermediate Court. The intermediate court upheld the original verdict on June 29.

Ms. Ye Cuilan, 75, from Shiquan County, was also arrested at Ms. Luo's home on June 23, 2016. She was given a three-year prison term and detained in the Shaanxi Province Women's Prison.

4. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Liu Defu Given a Three-Year Prison Term

Mr. Liu Defu from Shenhe District was given three years in prison and fined 20,000 yuan on August 15, 2017.

5. [Shanghai] Five Practitioners Arrested

Ms. Shao Hongzhen, Ms. Ni Cuiping, Ms. Ni Jingzhen, and two other practitioners were arrested by officers from the Mengzilu Police Station on the morning of August 11, 2017. Ms. Ni Jingzhen, in her 80s, was released after 11:00 p.m. that night. The other four practitioners are being held at Huangpu District Detention Center.

6. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Ms. Zheng Wei Detained

Ms. Zheng Wei from Shenyang City was arrested by chief officer Zhang Peng and other officers from the Xixin Police Station, Luyuan District, Changchun City. This occurred when she was visiting relatives in Changchun City on August 9, 2017. She was held at Changchun City Detention Center.

7. [Yantai City, Shandong Province] Three Practitioners Detained

Ms. Yu Limei, Ms. Wu Guimei, and Mr. Zhang Zhidong from Laiyang City were arrested and their homes were ransacked by officers from the Laiyang City Police Department at noon on July 18, 2017. They are held at Yantai Detention Center.

8. [Jurong City, Jiangsu Province] Ms. Zhang Alian Officially Placed Under Arrest

Ms. Zhang Alian was arrested by officers from the Huayang Police Station on July 4, 2017. She is held at Zhenjiang City Detention Center, and was officially placed under arrest on August 8.

9. [Xiangfan City, Hubei Province] Mr. Mao Xudong Arrested

Mr. Mao Xudong was arrested at home by officers from the Fancheng 610 Office on the morning of August 15, 2017. The officers confiscated two notebook computers, a mobile hard disk, an e-book, and some cash.

10. [Yushu City, Jilin Province] Ms. Sun Shuxia Detained

Ms. Sun Shuxia was arrested by officers from the Peiying Police Station on the afternoon of August 11, 2017. She was detained for five days.

11. [Tonghua City, Jilin Province] Ms. Yang Guizhen Arrested

Ms. Yang Guizhen, 69, was arrested on August 8, 2017 for distributing Falun Gong materials.

12. [Qingdao City, Shandong Province] Ms. Jiang Chunfang Detained

Ms. Jiang Chunfang, from Linquanzhuang Village, Wangcheng Town, Laixi City, was arrested by officers from the Wangcheng Police Station on May 3, 2017. The officers confiscated a computer and Minghui Weekly. Ms. Jiang was taken to Pudong Detention Center.

13. [Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province] Four Practitioners Arrested

Ms. Pei Ruiyu, Mr. Chen Lijun, Ms. Zhang Fengyun, and Ms. Yuan Quan from Guta District were arrested and their homes ransacked on August 9, 2017.

14. [Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Xu Xiuyun and Ms. Lu Xiuying Detained

Ms. Xu Xiuyun and Ms. Lu Xiuying were arrested by officers from the Chezhan Police Station on the afternoon of August 4, 2017 for talking to people about Falun Gong near the Jinzhou Train Station. Both practitioners were taken to the Jinzhou City Detention Center.

15. [Jilin City, Jilin Province] Ms. Li Chunyan Passed Away Due to Persecution

Ms. Li Chunyan, from Jiangyuan District, Baishan City, was detained in July 2000 for talking to people in the local government about Falun Gong. She was fined 2,000 yuan.

She was arrested again in December 2014 by officers from the Babao Police Station. The police confiscated Falun Gong books. She was detained for one year and was abused during her detention. As a result, she could not take care of herself and was released on medical parole. Ms. Li passed away on May 2, 2017.
