Falun Gong Practitioners Persecuted in Hunan Province Women's Prison

September 22, 2017 |   By a Minghui correspondent in Hunan Province, China

(Minghui.org) Many Falun Gong practitioners have been illegally detained in Hunan Women's Prison in Changsha. Most of them are over 50.

Every practitioner has endured different forms and degrees of abuse every day, including beatings, forced standing, and verbal abuse. Things are the worst in the “High Alert Area,” previously the No. 6 Ward. The guards instigate criminal inmates to assault and torture the practitioners.

The practitioners were healthy when they were admitted. Many of them have since developed symptoms of hypertension, heart disease, diabetes, and so on.

Some examples:

Ms. Jin Fuwan from Huaihua was put in a straitjacket that gets tighter each time the person moves. Other inmates put it on her. Her hands were twisted and her whole body was contorted. This spring, the prison coerced her family to encourage Ms. Jin to be “transformed” to avoid the torture.

Ms. Deng Yuee from Huaihua was also forced to wear a straitjacket. In addition, she was not allowed to shower or brush her teeth in the sweltering heat for more than a month. She was limited to only a tiny bid of food at each meal.

Ms. Li Meiju from Chenzhou was in her 30s and very healthy when she was admitted. After being tortured for a long time, her health has deteriorated and she now looks like she is in her 60s.

Ms. Tang Qingying, in her 70s, was tortured so severely that her head now shakes uncontrollably.

One practitioner from Huayuan County was forced to remain standing for 230 hours, day and night. She was only allowed to sleep one hour each day during that time.
