Shandong Woman Released Five Months after Arrest

September 12, 2017 |   By a Minghui correspondent in Shandong Province. China

(Minghui.org) A Mengyin County resident was released five months after being arrested for her efforts to expose the Chinese communist regime’s persecution of Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline based on Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.

Ms. Gao Fenglan was arrested on November 17, 2016, while distributing Falun Gong materials. The police ransacked her home and ordered her family to pay 300 yuan for her medical exam. They showed up again eight days later to get her family to sign her formal arrest warrant.

Guards at Linqi Detention Center abused Ms. Gao on a regular basis. They deprived her of sleep, forced her to stand for long periods of time, fed her sub standard food, and charged her exorbitant prices for commissary goods. When she refused to answer roll call and recite the detention center rules, the guards handcuffed her for an entire month, during which time she needed help just taking care of herself on a daily basis.

Two agents dropped by the detention center on December 28 to get Ms. Gao’s signature on a document. Ms. Gao read in the document that someone named Zhang Xingpeng testified that he knew she went to Beijing on May 9, 2001, to appeal on behalf of Falun Gong.

Ms. Gao never knew anyone named Zhang. More importantly, she was detained in Ji’nan Women’s Forced Labor Camp on the day in question. She refused to sign the document.

Police came to the detention center on April 21, 2017, and drove her home.
