Having Strong Willpower is Key to Cultivation

August 19, 2017 |   By a Falun Dafa practitioner in China

(Minghui.org) The reason why the old forces interfere with Falun Dafa practitioners is to make them fail in cultivation. Some practitioners do not understand that they need strong willpower when cultivating. If we do not study the Fa and cultivate solidly, the old forces see this as an opportunity to exploit our loopholes until our willpower is weakened and we deviate from the Fa.

The beings of the old cosmos hold onto their own principles, and even turn a deaf ear to Master’s warnings not to interfere with practitioners' cultivation.

Master Can Help Us When We Look Within

As practitioners, looking within when encountering problems or conflicts is a crucial part of cultivation. This should be our first thought, no matter how difficult it may seem. We need to find our human notions that caused the problem. Human notions can cause us to deviate in cultivation, which can lead to serious consequences.

When we look inward a battle emerges between human notions and a cultivator's willpower. If we can jump out of the old forces’ arrangements, and have the strong willpower to do this, then Master will be able to help us.

A practitioner needs strong willpower from the beginning to the end of their cultivation. If we do not do well, then we will have many regrets.

The Desire of Lust

When practitioners try to overcome the desires of lust, they need strong willpower to do so. This is even more so if one gives in to temptation.

Master said,

“If you fail the test the first time, it will be difficult to pass it the second time. Yet there is also the case where when one fails the first test, one will regret it very much upon waking from sleep. Perhaps this mentality and state of mind will reinforce your thoughts about it. When the issue again arises, you will be able to control yourself and pass the test. If one who fails the test does not care about it, it will be harder to pass later. It is definitely this way.” (Zhuan Falun)

Even if one has passed the lust test once, since this human desire is pressed into layers upon layers of our being, the old forces will use it repeatedly to keep testing us.

The old forces will take every opportunity to make practitioners waiver in their cultivation, using all sorts of ways to try and destroy our willpower. When one falls, one needs to quickly get up and continue cultivating to make progress.

Overcoming Loneliness

One standard to measure a cultivator’s willpower is to see whether one can overcome loneliness. A diligent cultivator is never bothered by loneliness.

Loneliness comes in various forms, including being bored with life, missing companionship, and so on.

Repeatedly feeling lonely indicates that one's willpower for cultivation is lacking. The feeling of loneliness comes from one’s attachment to self, time, and seeking comfort.
