Additional Persecution News from China – May 12, 2017 (22 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 20 cities or counties in 9 provinces. According to this report, 19 Falun Gong practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention, and at least 22 were illegally arrested.

1. [Shanghai] Eight Known Practitioners Arrested

Several Falun Gong practitioners were arrested by officers from the Yangpu District Domestic Security Division and the Wujiaochang Police Station on May 3, 2017.

The detained practitioners include: Ms. Lu Yuzhi, Ms. Sun Dimeng (70 years old), Mr. Fan Bangliang, Ms. Zhu Min, Ms. Wang Meihua, Ms. Shen Fang, Ms. Chen Xueqin, and Ms. Cui.

2. [Beijing] Mr. Zhang Jiuhai Arrested

Mr. Zhang Jiuhai from the Pinggu District was arrested by officers from the Zhenluoying Town Police Station on the evening of May 8, 2017, for posting Falun Gong materials.

3. [Beijing] Ms. Yu Fulan Detained

Ms. Yu Fulan from Fengtai Village, Nandulehe Town, Pinggu District, was arrested and taken to the Nandulehe Police Station on the morning of May 10, 2017. Her printer, notebook computer, and Falun Gong books were confiscated.

Ms. Yu was later held in the Pinggu Detention Center.

4. [Beijing] Mr. Liu Baowang Arrested

Mr. Liu Baowang from Liujiahe Village, Nandulehe Town, Pinggu District, was arrested by officers from the Jinhaihu Police Station on the morning of May 7, 2017, for distributing Falun Gong materials. His home was ransacked.

Mr. Liu's whereabouts are unknown.

5. [Suining City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Yu Xiuhua Detained

Ms. Yu Xiuhua was reported to the authorities for distributing Falun Gong materials on the morning of May 4, 2017. She was arrested and held in the Yongxing Detention Center for ten days.

6. [Ya'an City, Sichuan Province] Mr. Zhang Jun Tortured in Prison

Mr. Zhang Jun was a police officer from the Dapingshan Labor Reform Farm, but was forced to quit his job after he began practicing Falun Gong. He was sentenced to four years in prison for his belief.

Mr. Zhang was arrested again in 2013 and was given a five-year prison term. He is detained in the Jiazhou Prison, where he was tortured with shocked with electric batons.

7. [Tianjin] Ms. Liu Huiqing Placed Under Administrative Detention

Ms. Liu Huiqing, 59, was placed under administrative detention for 15 days. She is being held in the Dagang Detention Center.

8. [Susong County, Anhui Province] Mr. Fang Haoqi Taken to Prison

Mr. Fang Haoqi was taken to the Suzhou Prison on May 10, 2017.

9. [Tai'an City, Shandong Province] Ms. Tian Wenli Detained

Ms. Tian Wenli, 47, was arrested by officers from the Manzhuang Police Station on May 10, 2017, for distributing Falun Gong materials in the Donglin Farmers' Market, Manzhuang Town.

Ms. Tian's home was ransacked, and she was taken to the Shilihe Detention Center.

10. [Jinan City, Shandong Province] Mr. Lu Shoulu Detained

Mr. Lu Shoulu was taken to the Zhangqiu Detention Center on May 10, 2017.

11. [Weifang City, Shandong Province] Mr. Liu Zhanyou Detained

Mr. Liu Zhanyou from Hexi Village, Hou Town, Shouguang City, was arrested at his home by officers from the Shouguang Domestic Security Division and the Hou Town Police Station on May 9, 2017.

The officers ransacked Mr. Liu's home and confiscated his computer, Falun Gong books, DVDs of the founder of Falun Gong's lectures, and DVDs with Falun Gong information on them. He was taken to the Shouguang Detention Center.

12. [Zhaoyuan City, Shandong Province] Mr. Liu Shouzhi Detained

Mr. Liu Shouzhi from Daliujia Village, Xinzhuang Town, was arrested by officers from the Xinzhuang Town Police Station and officials from the town government on the morning of May 11, 2017.

Mr. Liu was detained for seven days.

13. [Jiujiang City, Jiangxi Province] Ms. Li Xiaochun Arrested

Ms. Li Xiaochun was arrested by officers from the Jiangzhou Township Police Station on May 2, 2017.

14. [Tang County, Hebei Province] Four Practitioners Detained

Mr. Chen Zeng'en, his elder brother Mr. Chen Zenghui, Ms. Tian Guiying, and Ms. Zhao Huanqiang were arrested by officers from the Yangjiao Township Police Station on May 2, 2017, when they were on their way to distribute Falun Gong materials in the mountainous areas.

Mr. Chen Zeng'en and Mr. Chen Zenghui are being held in the Tang County Detention Center. Ms. Tian and Ms. Zhao are being held in Baoding.

15. [Gaobeidian City, Hebei Province] Three Practitioners Arrested

Ms. Zhang Bianrong and two other practitioners from Dongmaying Township were arrested on May 5, 2017, for talking to people about Falun Gong in the Xincheng area, Baigou Town.

Ms. Zhang was held in the Gaobeidian City Detention Center. The other two practitioners were taken to the Dongmaying Police Station.

16. [Linzhou City, Henan Province] 80,000 Yuan Extorted from Mr. Lian Jianshu

Mr. Lian Jianshu was working odd jobs in Shanghai when he was seized by the Shanghai police in the spring of 2017 for talking to people about Falun Gong. He was forced to pay them 80,000 yuan.

Mr. Lian Jianshu is from Caisang Village, Caisang Town.

17. [Xinxiang City, Henan Province] Several Practitioners Sentenced

Ms. Ma Fuying was given a seven-year prison term by the Hui County Court in February 2017. Her family appealed to the Xinxiang City Intermediate Court, which upheld the original verdict in April 2017. Ms. Ma was taken to the No. 9 Ward, Xinxiang City No. 5 Prison.

Ms. Chen Baoqun was given a one-and-a-half-year prison term by the Linzhou City Court in March 2017. Ms. Chang Xiying was also given a one-and-a-half-year prison term by the Linzhou court on May 11, 2017. Both practitioners are being held in the Anyang City Detention Center.

Ms. Chen Baoqun and six other practitioners from Xipingluo Township, Hui County, were arrested by officers from the Chadian Township Police Station on August 3, 2016, for talking to people about Falun Gong in Chadian Township, Linzhou City. Ms. Li Hairui, Ms. Zhao Herong, Ms. Niu Chunfeng, and Ms. Han Gai'e were held in the Linzhou City Detention Center for 16 days. They were released on the morning of August 19, 2016.

18. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Three Practitioners Arrested

Ms. Dai from the Shejiatou area, Wuchang District was arrested at her home on the morning of May 8, 2017. Her home was ransacked.

Ms. Ye Xiaofen and Ms. Shan Yuhuan from the Xujiapeng area were arrested on May 6, 2017, for talking to people about Falun Gong. They were taken to a detention center in Erzhigou.

19. [Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Song Yanjuan Arrested

Ms. Song Yanjuan from Dahushan Town, Heishan County, was arrested at work by officers from the Jinzhou City and the Heishan County Domestic Security Division on May 4, 2017. Her home was ransacked.

20. [Heishan County, Liaoning Province] Mr. Zhan Zhigang and Mr. Cui Yu Arrested

Mr. Zhan Zhigang was arrested at work by officers from the Jinzhou City and Heishan County Domestic Security Division on the afternoon of May 10, 2017.

Mr. Cui Yu was arrested the same day.

Ms. Zheng is being held in the Anshan City Detention Center.

22. [Mishan City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Zhang Chenghua Arrested

Ms. Zhang Chenghua, in her 70s, was arrested by Yu Haiying and other officers from the Mishan City Police Department's Domestic Security Division on the morning of May 11, 2017.

The officers ransacked Ms. Zhang's home and confiscated her Falun Gong books and other related materials. Her whereabouts are unknown.
