(Minghui.org) Dr. Feng Shaoyong, 40, received his doctorate degree from the Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications. He has been arrested many times, sent to brainwashing centers, a forced labor camp, and was locked up in a mental hospital because he practices Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that is being persecuted by the Chinese communist regime.
He was severely tortured in the Shenzhen City No. 2 Forced Labor Camp, leaving him nearly paralyzed. His body is covered in scars.
Dr. Feng was arrested again on September 24, 2016. Officers from Ailian Police Station in the Longgang District submitted his case to the Procuratorate three times, as they were twice returned to the police for insufficient evidence.
Dr. Feng is from Shenzhen City in Guangdong Province.
Twenty Falun Gong practitioners in Guangdong Province were arrested on September 24, 2016. Dr. Feng was arrested that night while visiting a friend.
The many arrests were initiated by the Guangdong Provincial Political and Legal Affairs Committee, the Provincial 610 Office, Police Department, and the Domestic Security Division.
Dr. Feng is being held at the Longgang District Detention Center.
The case was sent to Procuratorate for a third time on April 21, 2017. The procurator told his family that they would have more details after June 5.
Dr. Feng had just been reunited with his wife and daughter after being previously detained.
When Dr. Feng was arrested again it traumatized his daughter. She was afraid that she would lose her mother as well and refused to be apart from her at any time, except for school.
The daughter wrote in one of her homework assignments: “I had a happy family. Now my father has been arrested. Everything changed, and my heart aches for him. I miss him so much and want him home again.”
Dr. Feng was born into a poor family, and learned traditional values from his parents. He worked hard and later earned a doctorate degree.
While working on his Ph.D., Dr. Feng's health suffered. Hard work had taken its toll on him and he had constant headaches.
After he began to practice Falun Gong, his health soon recovered. His mind became clear, and he was more productive in his research.
A state-level scientific research project that Dr. Feng led was awarded with funding of over a million yuan. He has always credited his ability and work ethic to Falun Gong’s principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.
Dr. Feng once attended the civil servant's entrance examination at Shenzhen City. He scored the highest on the exam and was offered a civil servant position. However, he gave up this opportunity because it required him to denounce his belief in Falun Gong.
Another time, he lost his job after the police pressured the company to fire him for his belief.
