(Minghui.org) Nine residents in Ningde City were recently sentenced to prison for producing informational materials exposing the Chinese communist regime’s persecution of Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline based on the principle of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.
Eight of the sentenced Falun Gong practitioners were arrested in late June 2016, while the other one was seized three months later.
The mass arrest was preceded by months of police monitoring.
The police didn’t inform the affected families of the arrest. A few families reported their loved ones missing. Only then did the police call each family to say the practitioners had been arrested.
The local court convicted the nine practitioners on May 18, 2017 and issued the following verdicts:
Mr. Xiao Chuanxiong (age 62): 12-year prison term and 50,000 yuan fine
Mr. Yang Xiong (age 42): 10-year prison term and 30,000 yuan fine
Mr. Zhuang Youbu (age 42): 10-year prison term and 30,000 yuan fine
Ms. Jin Liyan (age 74): 8-year prison term and 20,000 yuan fine
Mr. Chen Kaiqi (age 41): 7-year prison term and 10,000 yuan fine
Mr. Wang Tian (age 39): 4.5-year prison term and 10,000 yuan fine
Ms. Lin Lifang (age 52): 4.5-year prison term and 10,000 yuan fine
Ms. Chen Xingguang (age 69): 3.5-year prison term and 5,000 yuan fine
Ms. Yang Guimei (age 54): 3-year prison term and 5,000 yuan fine
Some of the practitioners had been sentenced before for their faith. Mr. Xiao once served 5 years in prison, and Mr. Chen spent a total of 8 years and 9 months in various labor camps and prisons.
