(Minghui.org) For taking in and providing shelter to the recently-escaped Ms. Lu Yongzhen, Changchun native Mr. Wang Hongyan, his mother Ms. Sun Shiying, and his sister, all Falun Gong practitioners, were arrested on March 7, along with Ms. Lu.
Kuancheng District Police Department officers went beyond their jurisdiction and made the arrests in the Chaoyang District. Mr. Wang Hongyan is currently held at the No. 1 Detention Center, while his mother, sister, and Ms. Lu are being held in the No. 4 Detention Center.
After enduring nine years of imprisonment and brutal torture, 62-year-old Ms. Lu Yongzhen's term was coming to an end on February 27. However, local 610 office agents picked her up from the Jilin Women's Prison before her family got there on the day she was released and planned to relocate her.
Ms. Lu's family and friends, who were waiting outside the prison, stopped the police vehicles and helped her get away. She was able to find refuge at the home of Mr. Wang Hongyan and his family after the escape.
Officials of the Liaoyuan City 610 Office, Changchun City Police Bureau, and Huanglong Police Station in Nongan County arrested Mr. Zhu Haitao, in whose car Ms. Lu escaped, on March 3 and confiscated his cell phone. They made a few more arrests before tracking down Ms. Lu on March 7.
Mr. Wang, 31, and his sister were children when they took up the practice with their parents in 1997. Despite the brutal persecution, his family's faith in Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance has never wavered over the past 18 years. This has made them the targets of the local authorities.
Mr. Wang's father Mr. Wang Qibo was tortured to death on March 28, 2007, at the age of 47, while imprisoned for his belief in Jilin Prison. His body was cremated without the family's consent or a final viewing. He had endured multiple illegal detentions, brainwashing, and forced labor before he was sentenced to seven years in prison in July 2002.
Mr. Wang Hongyan's mother Ms. Sun Shiying, 57, has been illegally detained multiple times, been subjected to brainwashing twice, and endured one year of forced labor. She was beaten and tortured during detention and in the forced labor camp.
She was arrested in October 2015 for filing criminal complaints against Jiang Zemin, the then leader of the Chinese Communist Party, for launching the persecution of Falun Gong, holding him responsible for her husband's death and the family's ordeals.
Mr. Wang and his sister were both arrested along with their parents when they were little. They witnessed the violence and injustice against their parents and went through tremendous difficulties in order to visit their parents in prison. Losing their father when they were so young left them sad and angry.
Mr. Wang’s sister was forced to drop out of high school. When Mr. Wang graduated from high school, he could not afford college because both his parents were detained. The family at one point had to sell the family home and move out of town to avoid harassment and arrests.
Mr. Wang's grandparents are both in their late 80s and have cried many tears over their lost son. Now their daughter-in-law and two grandchildren have been taken by the police.
