Police Trick a Four-Year-Old Into Making Statements Used to Charge Practitioners

(Minghui.org) The Toutunhe District Court in Urumqi issued a postponement notice at the end of February 2017 for the trial of three Falun Gong practitioners. The Toutunhe District Procuratorate had filed charges against the three in early December 2016.

The three practitioners are Mr. Shao Shengrui, 47; his wife Ms. Fan Yingxia, 44; and Ms. Ju Lanying, 67.

During the police investigation, Urumqi Domestic Security Division officers tricked the couple's four-year-old daughter and their developmentally disabled son into making statements against their parents.

In the indictment filed with the court by the procuratorate, the daughter's and the son's statements were used as evidence, and the children were listed as witnesses.

Ms. Fan, their mother, was reported when she distributed Falun Gong informational materials on June 2, 2016. She was arrested and taken to the Shiyou Village Police Station. The police ransacked her home. After being detained for 15 days at the station, Ms. Fan was transferred to the Shuimogou Detention Center.

Ms. Ju, another practitioner, was arrested on the same day because she had distributed Falun Gong informational materials with Ms. Fan. She was released on bail pending trial on July 14, 2016.

Mr. Shao, the children’s father, who is employed at the Kuitun Train Operation Depot, was arrested at work on the same day. His employer suspended his salary after his arrest.

The couple has two children. The developmentally disabled son is 16 years old. He has not stepped outside since his parents were arrested eight months ago. Both children desperately need their parents. The lawyer asked the officials to let the couple be paroled while awaiting trial, but his request was turned down.
