(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 20 cities or counties in 11 provinces. According to this report, 10 Falun Gong practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention, and at least 19 were illegally arrested.
Ms. Bai Jingyi from Zhengding County was given a seven-year prison term. She is held in the Shijiazhuang Women's Prison. She cannot walk due to persecution.
Ms. Chen Fanghua from Pingchuan District was arrested by officers from the Pingchuan District Police Department and the Changzheng Police Department on June 15, 2017 for filing a lawsuit against the former head of the Chinese Communist Party. She was held in the Pingchuan Detention Center. She was tried by the Pingchuan Court. The court notified her family that she was given a one-year-and-two-month prison term. The detention center would not allow her family to visit her.
Ms. Xu Xiaoying managed to escape from her workplace on June 15, 2017. She became displaced. Her family and workplace leaders were threatened by the Pingchuan Political and Legal Affairs Committee staff and officers from the Pingchuan Police Department.
Mr. Chen Xin was arrested in December 2015. He was held in the Suixi Detention Center for nearly two years. He was given a two-year-and-six-month prison term during the first trial. He was taken to Maoming Prison.
Ms. Wang Liping was given a five-year prison term. She returned home on September 26, 2017. She was again arrested and taken to a brainwashing center in October. She has not returned home yet.
Mr. He Jianghai, 53, was given a five-year prison term.
Mr. Xu Fuzhang was given a two-year prison term. He was taken to the Jinan Prison at the end of May 2017.
Ms. Dou Shufen's two daughters Ms. Li Hongying and Ms. Li Hongyan went to the Jiaohe City Domestic Security Division to ask about their mother's case. Sun Jiaqing, a Domestic Security officer, called officers from the Chang'an Street Police Station who arrived in police cars to arrest the daughters. Both daughters were taken to the Chang'an Street Police Station. Ms. Li Hongying was arrested for suing the former communist party head. Her sister Hongyan was released.
Ms. Zhang, about 76, who lives in the dormitory of the No. 2 Qilu Institute on Guangzhi Street, was arrested by officers from the Silicun Police Station on the afternoon of December 3, 2017. She has been placed in detention and held in a detention center.
Ms. Du Hexian was scheduled to appear in court on December 8, 2017. The details of her trial are still being investigated.
Ms. Du was arrested on September 26, 2016 for refusing to renounce Falun Gong. She soon went on a hunger strike to protest the illegal detention and was brutally force-fed. Her lawyer noted that she had to be wheeled out to see him and that she looked extremely weak.
The lawyer tried a few times but was denied access to Ms. Du's case file each and every time. He then tried to submit a complaint against the local procuratorate, but no agency was willing to register his complaint.
The lawyer was informed on December 4 that his client's court date was set for December 8.
Mr. Zheng Xufei was sentenced to 4 years in prison for refusing to renounce Falun Gong. The 42-year-old physical education teacher in Xiachu Town Middle School is appealing his case.
Mr. Zheng was arrested on July 14, 2017 and tried on December 1. His family learned on December 7 that he has been convicted.
A married couple was sentenced to prison for their efforts to expose the persecution of Falun Gong.
Mr. Kang Zongfeng was arrested on February 28, 2017 and his wife was seized two days later. They appeared in court on August 11 and were convicted on November 22. Mr. Kang was sentenced to 2 years in prison and Ms. Wei 11 months. Each of them was also fined 10,000 yuan. They are now appealing to the Dezhou City Intermediate Court.
Ms. Lin Baozhen was tried by Pudong Court on November 15, 2017. Her lawyer defended her not guilty and refuted the charges against her. The prosecutor had nothing to say.
Pudong Court notified Ms. Lin on the morning of November 28, 2017 that she was sentenced to one year of imprisonment. Her family and lawyer were not notified and the verdict was not announced.
Mr. Huang Licheng’s family was not able to contact him after he was transferred to Hulan Prison on September 27, 2017. His daughter received a call from the prison on November 13, saying that Mr. Huang was sick.
Mr. Huang’s younger brother and daughter went to visit him that afternoon. They saw there were two blisters on his arm. Both his arms and hands were swollen.
His daughter asked what was going on. He just said two blisters appeared after he learned that his family was inquiring about his information. His body ached all over and he lost one tooth. He didn’t disclose too much because prison guards were near.
Ms. Liu Yun, 67, was sentenced to three years’ imprisonment on September 31, 2017. She appealed to the Fushun Intermediate Court. The judge decided to uphold the original sentence. However, her family hadn’t received the verdict letter until now.
Ms. Liu was taken to Liaoning Women’s Prison on November 28, 2017. She has entrusted her daughter to continue appealing for her.
Mr. He Bin and his wife Fan Yuzhi were sentenced to three and a half years’ imprisonment on December 19, 2016. Mr. He was taken to Shenyang Prison on April 13, 2017 while Ms. Fan was taken to Liaoning Women’s Prison on April 18.
Ms. Fan’s family went to visit her, but was refused by the prison. They said that Ms. Fan was not allowed to be visited for a month. Her family worried about her health. When the family visited her later they noticed that she was emaciated. She said she was under big pressure.
Mr. He was transferred to Dongling Prison in June 2017. His family wasn’t allowed to visit him for a month. He is being held at the third prison division.
Ms. Deng Cuiping was sentenced to six years’ imprisonment at the beginning of 2017. She was transferred to Yunnan No. 2 Women’s Prison on May 18. Her husband and two sisters went to visit her, but the prison turned them away. The prison officials said that Ms. Deng was not transformed and she was strictly confined.
Ms. Jin Zhimei was arrested on the night of July 18, 2017 when a plainclothes police officer suspected that she was distributing DVDs about Falun Gong. She was taken to the Chuxiong Domestic Security Division that night and transferred to the Chuxiong Detention Center the following day.
Her lawyer learned on November 13, 2017 that her case had been submitted to the Procuratorate.
Ms. Zheng Jiping, Ms. Liu Shuyun and two elderly practitioners were arrested on August 30, 2017. The elderly practitioners were released that night. Ms. Zheng and Ms. Liu were taken to Jixi Detention Center, where they are still held.
Ms. Zheng’s case has been submitted to Procuratorate. Her father suddenly contracted an acute disease and passed away after he learned that she was arrested and prosecuted.
Ms. Li Shihong was arrested on the way to attend the trial of five other practitioners on November 21, 2017. No police security officer informed her family of her whereabouts. Her family went everywhere inquiring about her by December 9. Her family went to the Qiaokou District Legal System Center (i.e. Etouwan Brainwashing Center) and learned that she was detained there. The personnel only accepted the clothes her family brought for her but did not disclose any details about Ms. Li's physical or mental condition.
Ms. Zhang Guangyuan, Mr. Gao Hongbo, Mr. Zhang Weihua and Ms. Wang Xiaoli were taken to Dabei Prison on December 5, 2017. The practitioners have entrusted their families to appeal the decision of the second trial. The Anshan Intermediate Court accepted the appeal letters on December 7.
An officer from the Shanzhou District Domestic Security Division, Sanmenxia City arrested Mr. Liu Quanxing on October 10, 2016, saying that Mr. Liu filed a criminal complaint against the former Chinese communist party head. He was held at the detention center until August 2017. The guards did not allow his family to visit him.
The court held a trial without notifying his family. Mr. Liu was sentenced to three years of imprisonment. He is being held at Zhengzhou Prison.
