(Minghui.org) I am 80 years old. Thanks to Master's compassionate and tender care, I've been walking through wind and rain, ups and downs for the past 21 years.
It's difficult to have a human body, it's difficult to reincarnate in the Middle Kingdom (referring to China), and it's difficult to find Dafa.
I have been so fortunate to obtain the high-level Dafa that can only be encountered once in millions of years. I often remind myself that I must cherish this chance of the ages, study the Fa as much as possible, be focused while studying the Fa, follow Master's teachings, and do the three things well.
I've been telling people the facts about Falun Dafa face to face for over a decade. I study the Fa in the morning and go outside to clarify the truth in the afternoon. I am an extroverted person, so it's not a problem for me to talk to strangers.
However, when I stepped forward to do so at the beginning, many human attachments surfaced. I was afraid of people reporting me to police, afraid of encountering plainclothes police, afraid of people not listening to me, and afraid of losing face.
I had so many worries. I had much fear while telling people the facts early on. At that time my target was limited to kind-looking persons, older people, or those who asked me for directions.
One time I gave a DVD to a man who smiled and appeared to be about 60 years old. He accepted the DVD, then turned and threw it away. It was like a slap in the face. I am a knowledgeable person, after all, and have always been respected. Then that happened to me. I felt really bad, but I forced myself to be tolerant. I smiled at him and said, “If you do not want it, just return it to me. That can save people. You are missing the opportunity to be saved.”
The man got on his bicycle and left. He had thrown the DVD into a thick patch of grass. Thanks to Master, I found it.
Then I saw a lady in her 60s staring at me. I hesitated and wondered whether I should give her the DVD. I worried she might respond the same way the old man did, because she kept looking at me.
Suddenly I remembered that saving people was the priority. I hesitated no more, walked over, and told her the facts about Falun Dafa. Beyond my expectations, she understood the truth immediately, accepted my DVD, and quit the CCP and its affiliated organizations.
This happened to me more than once. A vegetable vendor dropped my DVD and the plastic box broke. I was very angry and thought to myself, “This person is really hateful. I was trying to save him, and he was so ungrateful. I really shouldn't give it to him.”
Many attachments came out: hatred, fighting and complaining, and fear of losing face. I was immediately aware of these and caught them. How could I be effective if I carried all these attachments?
Someone who was unclear about the truth reported me three times to the police. I was arrested and taken to the police station. My home was ransacked three times. My heart ached. It's so difficult to save people.
When we shared our experience of how to save people at the Fa study group, other practitioners said they were always smiling and at ease while telling people the facts about Falun Dafa. Each of them could successfully persuade about 10 people, sometimes even more than 20 people, a day to quit the CCP and its affiliated organizations. I wondered: why couldn't I practice cultivation well and develop compassion?
Master said,
“Saving people is just that, saving people, and to pick and choose would not be merciful.” (“Fa Teaching at the 2009 Greater New York International Fa Conference” from Teaching the Fa at the Conference IX)
I came to realize that I was not cultivating myself well and just doing things with human attachments. People are waiting for us to save them. Every person who meets with us has a predestined relationship with us and Dafa. As Dafa practitioners in the Fa-rectification period, we must honor our prehistoric vows. Saving people is our responsibility and mission.
I adjusted my mentality and kept going forward. Day after day, year after year, in the heat of summer and the cold of winter, I go out to save people and make the best use of my time in saving people.
Looking at the streams of people busily coming and going, I wondered what their fate would be in the near future when the mass elimination arrives. I sighed. Ordinary people are all in a maze.
At that point, my compassion welled up from the bottom of my heart. Ever since then, I've tried not to be selective about who I clarify the truth to.
One time on a bus, a serious-looking man sat next to me. I wanted to tell him the truth but was a little timid to open my mouth. After calming down for a minute, I gathered up my courage and told him the facts about Falun Dafa. He listened to me without saying anything at first, then stared at the literature in my hands and asked, “Is that Falun Gong material?”
I replied to him, “Yes.”
He said, “Just give it to me. I would take it only if it is about Falun Gong.”
I handed it to him. One more life understood the truth. I was very glad for him.
During these years, I have met all kinds of people. Some refused to listen. Some cursed at me. Some made random comments like, “At your old age, why don’t you take care of your grandchildren at home? Why do you do this? What's in it for you to distribute these materials? The CCP gives you money, but you are against it. You are fed with too much food and have nothing to do.” And on and on.
No matter what people say about me, I would just respond with a smile.
People have reported me to the police. Sometimes I encounter plainclothes police who follow me. When I am in danger, I pray to Master for help, as I know that Master is beside me all the time.
I escaped peril many times. Nine times when I was followed by plainclothes police, I sent forth righteous thoughts and asked Master for help and eventually I got away from them.
Six times when I told people the facts, someone who didn't know any better held me, harassed me, and wouldn't let me go. I would send forth righteous thoughts and ask Master for help while explaining Dafa to them.
“Falun Gong saves people. We are all good people. Good is rewarded with goodness, while evil incurs retribution.” Finally, I could get away.
Another time, after someone reported me to the police, two policemen came, seized my arms, and attempted to take me to the police station.
At the square, I shouted, “Falun Dafa is good! Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good!”
Suddenly I became the center of attention. Bystanders came to watch what was happening. Several police officers rushed over and pulled me into a police car. They took me to a police station. I bore no hatred towards them, instead I worried about their future as they were unknowingly creating karma.
I told them the facts about Falun Dafa sincerely and compassionately. “We are all good people. Do not persecute Falun Dafa practitioners. It's a heavenly principle that good is rewarded and evil receives retribution. No matter what you do, you should be responsible for your actions. It's up to you to decide if you will choose a bright future.”
At the police station, about seven officers listened to me explain the facts about Falun Dafa. One officer smiled and asked me to leave. Another one saw me off at the gate.
I will never give up doing the three things that Master requires us to do just because of these tribulations. Master said,
“Because the cultivation of Shan can generate great, benevolent compassion, and when compassion develops one will find all beings suffering, the Buddha School thus develops an aspiration to offer salvation to all beings.” (Zhuan Falun)
We are cultivating Dafa, the great law of the universe. Only the great law of universe can make us develop such great compassion.
Every time I go to do this is a test for my cultivation. Master said,
“You are the hope for humankind. You must do well.” (“Fa Teaching at the 2016 New York Fa Conference”)
I know how great our responsibility is as Dafa practitioners in the Fa-rectification period.
Once at a crossroad, although other people were standing around, a lady walked straight toward me to ask for directions. I wondered why she came to me but knew it was not accidental.
I thought that Master had brought her to me. I pulled her aside and told her many facts about Falun Dafa. She didn't cross the road when the light turned green; instead, she continued to listen with a smile on her face. Finally, she agreed to quit the CCP and its affiliated organizations. She didn't even ask me for directions when she left.
Another time, as I stood on the side of the road with five other people, a woman inside a building waved at me through the window. I wondered why she kept on waving at me since I didn't know her. A person standing beside me said, “Just go over to her. She's calling you.”
I went over and asked her, “Are you calling me?”
“Yes," she replied and handed me a key. “Please help me open the door.”
She was locked in from the inside. After I opened the door for her, she talked to me like an old friend. I took it as a good opportunity to tell her the facts about Falun Dafa. She was very willing to listen and finally quit the CCP. Before I left, she shook my hand and repeatedly expressed her thanks.
Some people are really stubborn and arrogant. They would say, “We are living a good life now. We fight against heaven and earth. We've created everything.”
I explain to them, “Just look: so many disasters are befalling us. Human beings cannot triumph over heaven or earth. Human beings shouldn't be so arrogant; instead, we should follow the will of heaven. When we accomplish anything, we should express our thanks to heaven and earth.”
Most people would respond positively after listening to my explanation. Then it became easy for them to accept the facts about Falun Dafa and quit the CCP.
Some atheists would not listen to me at first when I told them the facts about Falun Dafa and securing their safety by quitting the CCP.
When this happens, I would use another way to explain. “Let's talk about something else,” I say. “Have you ever heard about the sarira tower in Xi'an? Shakyamuni's sarira is preserved there. The body of an eminent monk from Mount Jiuhua kept in a vat has not rotted in 1,000 years. The body of the sixth patriarch in Zen Buddhism conserved at Nanhua Temple in Guangdong has not rotted away even after 1,000 years.
“An ordinary person's body rots away within days under normal temperature. Why does the body of a non-practitioner have no sarira after it's cremated?”
As their atheism begins to fade, I explain. “Falun Gong is a Buddha school cultivation. What Dafa practitioners tell you is all the truth. Whoever believes it would be blessed. Whoever agrees to quit the CCP could secure safety.”
At this point about 90 percent of the atheists change their notions, accept the facts about Falun Gong, and agree to quit the CCP.
Once I explained the facts about Falun Gong to a young man who was playing on his cell phone on a bus. I said to him, “Keep in mind that Falun Dafa is good. Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good.”
He agreed and nodded his head. When I spoke of securing his safety by quitting the CCP, his expression changed. “Do you know who I am? I'm a policeman.”
My heart beat fast for a bit, but then I remembered what I was doing and thought, “I am saving him. Why am I afraid of him?”
I calmed down. “Police officers also need to protet their lives. Life is precious. You should cherish your life. The sooner you quit the CCP, the sooner you can secure your safety.”
He was listening. “You should be responsible for your own life,” I said.
When he got off the bus, he said to me, “Thank you for giving me this information.”
Many times it seems accidental when people come to me, but actually it's Master who brings people with a predestined relationship to me.
“Cultivation depends on one’s own efforts, while the transformation of gong is done by one’s master.” (Zhuan Falun)
Actually, everything is done by Master.
During these years, I have explained the truth to people from all walks of life: government officials, soldiers, professors, workers, peasants, intellectuals, students, and police officers.
Once they understand, they smile and express their thanks again and again. Some people remind me to be alert and keep safe.
Some bow with their hands folded in front of them to express their thanks and respect. I always feel warm in my heart when they do so.
Once time I explained the facts about Falun Dafa to two ladies in their 50s. They listened and finally agreed to quit the CCP. They kept smiling at me all the time. It seemed that they had been waiting for this critical moment for a long time.
One of them said as they leeft, “I wish you a healthy and long life!” The other lady also said loudly, “I wish you an endless life!”
I expressed my good wishes to them: “I wish you great health, safety, and happiness.”
To conclude, I would like to share the following paragraph of Master's Fa:
“For Dafa disciples, your doing the three things well is just the biggest thing. You must first cultivate yourself well, only then can you fulfill your historic mission. Therefore, in the entire process of saving sentient beings and validating Dafa, you cannot neglect your own cultivation. So in cultivation you must be serious, and that is the most basic guarantee for you as a cultivator.” (“Fa Teaching at the New York Fa Conference on the Twenty-Fifth Anniversary of Dafa’s Introduction to the Public”)
