Liaoning Woman Tried for Passing Out Information Exposing the Persecution of Her Spiritual Belief

December 16, 2017 |   By a Minghui correspondent in Liaoning Province, China

(Minghui.org) Ms. Jiang Weizhen, a Falun Gong practitioner from Chaoyang City, Liaoning Province, was tried by Longcheng District Court on November 30, 2017, for passing out informational materials that exposed the persecution of her faith by the Chinese communist regime.

Ms. Jiang's lawyer delivered a non-guilty defense for her. He argued that there is no law that criminalizes Falun Gong, and his client's freedom of belief and expression should be protected by the Constitution. The trial lasted three hours. The judge adjourned the trial before cross-examination was conducted.

Ms. Jiang was arrested while distributing materials on June 27, 2017. The police had been monitoring her through a surveillance camera prior to the arrest. On the day of the arrest, an officer pretended to be someone who wanted to learn about Falun Gong. He approached Ms. Jiang and asked for materials to share with his family. As soon as Ms. Jiang handed him the materials, he called his colleagues, who came and arrested her.

Ms. Jiang was taken to the police station and later transferred to the detention center. The police ransacked her home and confiscated her computer and Falun Gong literature.
