Woman Refuses to Give up Faith, Recently Sentenced to Two Years

December 14, 2017 |   By a Minghui correspondent in Beijing, China

(Minghui.org) A woman in Beijing was arrested on April 5, 2017, for speaking to people about Falun Gong and giving them literature about the spiritual discipline that has been persecuted in China since 1999.

Cuigezhuang Police Station officers admitted her to the Chaoyang District Detention Center the next day.

Ms. Tang Guilin was officially arrested on May 11. She pleaded not guilty at her trial on September 14 in the Chaoyang District Court. Despite her lawyers’ sound legal defense, the judge found her guilty of “using a cult to undermine law enforcement," a generic accusation used by the Chinese communist regime against Falun Gong practitioners. She was sentenced to two years in prison.

Ms. Tang, 37, became a Falun Gong practitioner in 2004, as did her husband and their mother. They have all been arrested and imprisoned because of their belief.

In March 2008, Ms. Tang and her mother Ms. Xu Xiaoping were arrested in her hometown in Hunan Province. Ms. Tang was then sentenced to four years in Hunan Woman’s Prison, and Ms. Xu was tortured in Baimalong Forced Labor Camp for a year and a half. Ms. Tang’s husband was twice imprisoned for refusing to give up the practice.

In December 2011 the Beijing police arrested Ms. Tang. She was imprisoned and tortured in two separate forced labor camps for a total of two years.
