Letting Go of Jealousy and Eliminating Gaps Among Practitioners

October 07, 2017 |   By a Falun Gong practitioner in China

(Minghui.org) Betta (alias) is a local Falun Gong practitioner. She was arrested for her belief in Falun Gong but soon released. She told me that her Dafa coordinator had gone to her workplace and told her that she needed to explain to the local practitioners, in person, what she had previously done wrong and how she had gotten released. He was clearly suspicious of Betta.

Betta’s Tribulation

Betta’s coordinator quizzed her: “I have several questions. First, why were you released so soon the last time you were arrested even though they confiscated so many Falun Gong items from your home?

“Second, only a few days later, you went to look for the people who had arrested you, supposedly to clarify the facts about Falun Gong. You were not in a righteous state at that time, so it did not appear that you were clarifying the facts to them. Maybe you just had to report to them periodically? Was that it?

“Third, how come, after you were released, many other practitioners were detained and persecuted?”

Betta was shocked by these questions and did not know how to answer them. But others made similar suggestions that she “explain herself.”

I, too, was shocked by that coordinator’s questions, and my first thought was that jealousy was the reason behind why he'd asked such things. Should practitioners be persecuted when Falun Gong items are found in their homes? We try to rescue the arrested practitioners, so why should we be so surprised if someone is released? Why do we send righteous thoughts, write truth-clarifying letters, hire lawyers, and clarify the facts to those who carry out the persecution?

What did we want to achieve by spending so much effort and money? If we were not happy that our fellow practitioners were rescued, or, on the contrary, if we thought it was unusual for them to be released, then why would we attempt to rescue them?

If we become prejudiced against practitioners when the authorities release them, bad thoughts and bad substances might become part of that practitioner’s dimension. Our future attempts to rescue practitioners might then not work.

Betta said that she did not defend herself when the coordinator accused her, but she was upset and said she was depressed afterward. She realized that she had to look within to find and let go of attachments. She kept reading Dafa books, sending righteous thoughts, and looking within for unrighteous thoughts.

Master said:

“The notions that people from mainland China have were formed under the influence of the wicked CCP's culture. Their concepts, mindsets, way of life, and day-to-day conduct were all formed under such circumstances.” (“Fa Teaching at the 2009 Greater New York International Fa Conference” from Teaching the Fa at the Conference IX

“Jealous types look down upon others and don’t allow others to surpass them. When they see someone more capable than they, their minds lose all perspective, they find it unbearable, and they deny the fact.” (“Ridding Yourself of Jealousy” from Falun Gong)

Betta told me that her local coordinator had done quite well disseminating Falun Gong information and also in coordinating things, but he had disagreed with the way Betta spread the facts about Falun Gong.

Betta told people she met on the bus about how to do good deeds to improve one’s morality, while the coordinator preferred to stress information about the organ harvesting from living practitioners. The coordinator did not think that Betta's information counted as spreading Falun Gong information. That jealousy was caused by his attachment to competitiveness.

Barriers Between Practitioners

A few years ago, practitioner Daly (alias) was accused of being a spy, because many practitioners who had teamed up with her to hand out informational materials were arrested. Betta heard this, but she could not believe that Daly was really a spy.

Daly told Betta how many Falun Gong fliers and DVDs she distributes in one day, and Betta thought that she was showing off. Actually, it was jealousy that caused Betta to think that way.

Betta thought that this was part of the reason why her local coordinator had questioned her. Back when Betta heard that Daly was supposed to a spy, Betta did not help clear out those negative thoughts that were caused by jealousy, and later she also became suspicious of Daly. The gap among fellow practitioners grew.

Betta thought that each practitioner should remove jealousy to prevent or remove any barriers between practitioners. Otherwise, it would be very hard for local practitioners to form a strong team and cooperate well together.

Generating Positive Thoughts

In my area, Falun Gong practitioners had cooperated to rescue some of the arrested practitioners, but very few practitioners were released. I found out by sharing experiences with many practitioners that not everything they did was in line with the Fa.

They thought about the arrested practitioners’ shortcomings and looked for their attachments. Those jealousies and strong negative notions were pushed into the arrested practitioners’ dimensions, and those negative thoughts helped the old forces to find loopholes.

Falun Gong practitioners were created by the Fa of the new cosmos and have no connection with the old forces, even if he or she had done something wrong. Practitioners are being rectified by the Fa. No practitioner should acknowledge the old forces. We should deny the old forces completely, eliminate negative thoughts in our own dimensions, and rescue fellow practitioners with pure, righteous thoughts.

Jealousy is composed of negative thoughts and is in opposition to the Falun Gong principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. Jealousy works against kindness and generates gaps among practitioners. To form a powerful group, each practitioner has to completely eliminate jealousy. The fewer negative thoughts, the more positive thoughts are generated.

Every practitioner should realize the importance of letting go of jealousy and treat other practitioners with kindness. Then a strong body will form, without gaps to be exploited.
