Two Gansu Women Remain Detained Despite Return of Cases to Police by Procuratorate

October 23, 2017 |   By a Minghui correspondent in Gansu Province, China

(Minghui.org) Police in Lanzhou City raided three households and arrested four locals on June 18, 2017. Ms. Yuan Xiuying, her husband Mr. Gao Jun, Ms. Wang Xiongzhen, and Ms. Liang Yuying were targeted because they refuse to renounce Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline being persecuted by the Chinese communist regime.

The arresting officers didn’t produce a search warrant when they confiscated the practitioners’ computers, printers, and Falun Gong books and materials.

The four practitioners were taken to Weiyuanlu Police Station, where they were interrogated for four straight hours before being driven to a local police hospital for a medical exam around 10 p.m.

Mr. Gao was then driven home, while the three women were taken to Lanzhou City First Detention Center.

On July 21, Ms. Yuan and Ms. Wang were issued formal arrest warrants and Ms. Liang was released.

Ms. Yuan’s lawyer met with her in the detention center and noted she was in very poor health. Her family requested her immediate release, but they haven’t heard any response yet.

The local Chengguan Procuratorate recently returned Ms. Yuan’s and Ms. Wang’s case to police, but the latter have refused to release the two women.
