(Minghui.org) When the 26th International Congress of The Transplantation Society (TTS) was held in Hong Kong in August, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) claimed that China used only organs from death row prisoners for transplants and that the allegation of organ harvesting from Falun Gong practitioners and other prisoners of conscience was, therefore, “a lie.”
Ironically, just ten years ago, the communist regime had claimed that China had never used organs from death row prisoners for transplants and, therefore, the accusation that their organs were being used was “a lie.”
The following articles are just a sampling of what was reported in People's Daily, Xinhua, and other CCP mouthpieces at that time:
“It Is Slander to Say China Takes Death Row Prisoners' Organs”
“Ministry of Health: 'Taking Organs from Death Row Prisoners Without Consent' Is a Grossly Inaccurate Statement”
“Ministry of Health Rebuttal of the Fallacy That 'China Takes Organs from Death Row Prisoners Without Consent'”
“Ministry of Health: The Source of Organs for Transplant Is Primarily from Donations by Citizens Who Passed Away”
“Foreign Media's Ulterior Motive in Claiming China Takes Death Row Prisoners' Organs”
…
In 2012, however, the headlines started to change:
“Ministry of Health: Death Row Prisoners Are the Primary Source of Organs for China's Transplants”
The CCP does not generally ever admit guilt. Why did it all of a sudden change its story?
Was it to cover up another lie that is far bigger and even worse?
Is it trying to cover up the fact that organs are being harvested from prisoners of conscience, including Falun Gong practitioners?
Ten years ago, the CCP denied the accusation that it was taking organs from death row prisoners. Now, it admits it as fact. The whole world knows that the CCP had lied earlier.
Now the CCP denies the accusation that it takes organs from prisoners of conscience. In the not-too-distant future, the whole world will know that the CCP had lied again.
In its report Ironclad and Irrefutable Evidence, the World Organization to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong (WOIPFG) identified a loophole in the CCP's lie:
“According to Amnesty International's records, from 1995 to 1999, the annual average of executed death row prisoners in China was around 1,680 per year. Between 2000 and 2005, the average number was 1,616 per year.
“China's officially released numbers for kidney transplants far exceeds the number of death row prisoners. Huang Jiefu's claim that the annual kidney transplant volume is 5,500 - 10,000 already far exceeds the number of death row prisoners. WOIPFG'sinvestigation indicates that from 2000 to 2005, China performed at least 12,200 kidney transplants per year.”
Chinese media reports also recorded a large number of organ transplants.
China Economic Weekly reported in September 2013 that Peking University People‘s Hospital performed 4,000 liver and kidney transplants in one year.
Guangzhou Daily reported on March 13, 2013, that Huang Jiefu, chairman of the China Organ Donation Committee and the former vice minister of the Ministry of Health, carried out more than 500 liver transplants in 2012.
China hosted a special Chinese organ transplant meeting one day prior to the TTS Congress. The Global Times and other CCP controlled media immediately claimed that it “shows that the Chinese organ transplant world has been truly accepted by The Transplantation Society.”
Dr. Philip J. O’Connell, the TTS president, denied the CCP's claim the very next day. At a news conference, Dr. O’Connell said that “no one could interpret” what he said to the Chinese representatives as meaning that China's organ transplant system has been “truly accepted by The Transplantation Society.”
“So they may say that, but that’s not what the truth is,” said Dr. O’Connell.
The essence of this lie was the CCP's attempt to get the international community to accept and legitimize its organ transplant practices.
The international community has strict ethical standards on transplanting organs. China is far from meeting the standards, not to mention the fact that it violated fundamental human principles by conducting live organ harvesting.
The CCP didn't bother to adjust or regulate its practices to meet the international standards. Instead, it just lied, hoping that it could fool the TTS. It claimed that it used only organs from death row prisoners before, that it passed a regulation to stop using those organs on January 1, 2015, and that it had therefore made a dramatic improvement and so should be accepted by the international community.
People should wise up to its lies.
