(Minghui.org) Mr. Yin Hongpei from Yangzhou City, was arrested five days after he filed a criminal complaint against Jiang Zemin, the former Chinese leader who launched the communist regime's violent campaign against Falun Gong 16 years ago. Mr. Yin has endured tremendous suffering since 1999.
Mr. Yin was tried on December 11, 2015 and sentenced to three years in prison for practicing Falun Gong. His lawyer argued at Mr. Yin's appeals hearing on February 23, 2016 that his client's belief in Falun Gong is not a crime. The Yangzhou Intermediate Court upheld the verdict from the lower court on April 2.
Mr. Yin, 45, was a senior engineer and researcher at the China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation. According to his complaint against Jiang Zemin, he was arrested, tortured in a mental hospital, subjected to brainwashing multiple times, and demoted as part of Jiang's persecution of Falun Gong.
Mr. Yin began practicing Falun Gong in 1997. In November 1999, four months after the persecution began, he traveled to Beijing to petition the central government to end its campaign against Falun Gong. He was arrested and detained.
Seven months later, agents from the local 610 Office, an extralegal organization under the Communist Party dedicated to the suppression of Falun Gong, ordered the police to transfer Mr. Yin to a mental hospital. Nurses shocked his temples with high-voltage electric batons and forcibly administered nerve-damaging drugs every day.
In February 2011, agents from the 610 Office ordered police to ransack Mr. Yin's home and arrest him for talking to the public about Falun Gong and the persecution. He was sent to a brainwashing center to be "transformed." He was dismissed from his job.
After Mr. Yin put up a painting that promoted Falun Gong in February 2012, agents from the 610 Office ransacked his home and put him under criminal detention.
In 1999, Jiang Zemin, as head of the Chinese Communist Party, overrode other Politburo standing committee members and launched the violent suppression of Falun Gong.
The persecution has led to the deaths of many Falun Gong practitioners in the past 16 years. More have been tortured for their belief and even killed for their organs. Jiang Zemin is directly responsible for the inception and continuation of the brutal persecution.
Under his personal direction, the Chinese Communist Party established an extralegal security organ, the “610 Office,” on June 10, 1999. The organization overrides police forces and the judicial system in carrying out Jiang's directive regarding Falun Gong: to ruin their reputations, cut off their financial resources, and destroy them physically.
Chinese law allows for citizens to be plaintiffs in criminal cases, and many practitioners are now exercising that right to file criminal complaints against the former dictator.
