Senior Citizen's Lawsuits against Jiang Zemin Intercepted Twice by the Authorities

February 19, 2016 |   By a Minghui correspondent in Shandong Province, China

(Minghui.org) Ms. Teng, 75, is a resident of Qingdao City, Shandong Province. After she learned that Falun Gong practitioners and their families had filed more than 166,000 lawsuits against Jiang Zemin, the former head of the Chinese communist regime, she also filed complaints against Jiang with the Supreme People's Court and the Supreme People's Procuratorate on August 6 and August 27, 2015.

Ms. Teng had read Falun Gong books before the onset of the persecution of the practice, and had been interested in becoming a practitioner. However, the persecution of Falun Gong, launched by Jiang Zemin on July 20, 1999, stopped her from learning the practice.

In her complaint Ms. Teng stated that Jiang had abused his power and defamed kind people. She asked the Supreme People's Court to put Jiang on trial for his crimes and for the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners.

Courier Service Turned Complaint Over to Local Authorities

Ms. Teng mailed her complaint via Express Mail Service (EMS) on August 6, 2015. Three days later, a staff member of the local residential committee called her to confirm that she had submitted a criminal complaint against Jiang. Before hanging up the phone, the staffer said, “I read your complaint letter. It's well written.”

Ms. Teng wondered how the staff at the residential committee had obtained her letter, which she had sent to the Supreme Court. She went to the EMS website to track her registered mail. The mail was never sent to Beijing. The website stated “Mailed and delivered in Qingdao City.” She was noted as both the sender and recipient.

Ms. Teng mailed her lawsuit again on August 27, 2015 via EMS and tracked it. The same situation happened again. Her mail was not delivered. China EMS colluded with the local authorities and intercepted her mail, which violated the law and her civil rights.

Since then, Ms. Teng has joined a local Falun Gong study group and begun to do the exercises with other practitioners. She is now a practitioner.

Background

In 1999, Jiang Zemin, as head of the Chinese Communist Party, overrode other Politburo standing committee members and launched the violent suppression of Falun Gong.

The persecution has led to the deaths of many Falun Gong practitioners over the past 16 years. More have been tortured for their belief and even killed for their organs. Jiang Zemin is directly responsible for the inception and continuation of the brutal persecution.

Under his personal direction, the Chinese Communist Party established an extralegal security organ, the “610 Office,” on June 10, 1999. The organization overrides police forces and the judicial system in carrying out Jiang's directive regarding Falun Gong: to ruin their reputations, cut off their financial resources, and destroy them physically.

Chinese law now allows for citizens to be plaintiffs in criminal cases, and many practitioners are exercising that right to file criminal complaints against the former dictator.
