Practitioner in Panzhihua, Sichuan Province Faces Trial After Six Months of Detention, Abuse

February 13, 2016 |   By a Minghui correspondent in Sichuan Province

(Minghui.org) Mr. He Yongming was arrested in July 2015 for practicing Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline persecuted by the Chinese communist regime. After months of detention, during which time he showed signs of severe abuse, he now faces trial in Panzhihua City, Sichuan Province. His trial date is yet to be announced.

On July 20, 2015, two Renhe District police officers broke into Mr. He's home, ransacked the residence, and seized a computer, a printer, Falun Gong books, notebooks, and other personal property. At 3 a.m. the next morning, they arrested Mr. He and took him to the Dahe Police Station.

After just 20 days in detention, he was emaciated, and his hair turned gray. His 86-year-old father became mentally disoriented from the stress, went missing, and was finally found by his family a week later.

Mr. He's arrest was ratified by the local Procuratorate on August 25. His wife was summoned to the police office to sign the warrant. When she saw that the reason for her husband’s arrest was left blank—and that there was no signature of the arresting officer—she refused to sign it. The officers told her, however, that whether or not she signed was unimportant.

During this visit, Mr He’s father knelt in front of the officers and begged for his son's release, but was ignored.

Previously Arrested, Beaten by Police

In March 2002, police went to the store Mr. He lived in and operated with his family. Officers ransacked the store and arrested him and his sister while holding them at gunpoint. The two were taken to a police station and cuffed to a bench. They were later moved to the Dong District Police Department and interrogated.

Officers slapped and punched the siblings, leaving their bodies and thighs covered in bruises. They were held for seven days and then transferred to the Wanyaoshu Detention Center, where they were detained for another 35 days.
