Zhengzhou Prison Continues Attempt to Make Falun Gong Practitioners Renounce Their Faith

November 08, 2016 |   By a Minghui correspondent in Henan Province

(Minghui.org) Zhengzhou Prison is a centralized location used by Henan Province authorities to incarcerate male residents given jail time for refusing to renounce Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline being persecuted by the Chinese communist regime.

It has been 17 years since the persecution began in 1999, and Zhengzhou Prison’s attempt to make jailed practitioners give up their belief hasn’t abated.

All of the practitioners must go through brainwashing sessions. Prison guards rely heavily on inmates and former practitioners who have gone astray under pressure to “work on” the practitioners.

The inmates are promised term reductions if they are successful in making practitioners break away from Falun Gong. In order to achieve their goal, the inmates keep the practitioners isolated and under close watch 24 hours a day. They bombard the practitioners with propaganda slandering Falun Gong and try to weaken their resolve.

When some practitioners indeed give in, they are used to pressure practitioners who are steadfast in their belief.

Those who refuse to renounce their faith are often met with brutal beatings and other forms of abuse. Mr. Li Junqi and Mr. Sun Yaoting were both savagely beaten on multiple occasions. One inmate also threatened Mr. Sun to keep him awake until he wrote statements to give up his belief.

Mr. Pang Liang’s mother and sister-in-law were arrested ten days after they requested medical parole for him. The two women visited him on August 2 and noticed that he was emaciated. He told them that he was suffering from rheumatic heart disease and spinal cord compression. He had trouble swallowing and walking.

The prison refused to grant Mr. Pang medical parole. They further got the police involved and had his mother and sister-in-law arrested in their hotel room on August 12.
