October 16, 2016 |   By a Minghui correspondent in Hebei Province, China

(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Jia Maosheng, 52, from Shijiazhuang City, was arrested on August 17, 2016. His home was ransacked by police.

The Procuratorate has approved the arrest, and Mr. Jia is being held in the Shijiazhuang No. 2 Detention Center.

Arrest

Mr. Jia was delivering informational materials about Falun Gong to another practitioner on the morning of August 17, 2016. He was arrested by police from the Changan District Domestic Security Division and the Qingyuanjie Police Station.

Officers raided his home and took away Falun Gong books, a computer, three printers, and other informational materials about Falun Gong. Police did not provide a list of the confiscated items.

He has been held at the Shijiazhuang No. 2 Detention Center since August 18. 2016.

Daughter Seeks Father's Release

Mr. Jia's wife is working full-time while trying to secure his release. His 22-year-old daughter, who studies abroad, wrote a letter to the Qingyuanjie Police Station.

“... I am very concerned about my mom. When I leave for school, she will be alone, but she still has to rescue my dad. I have two years left before I graduate. We do not have much money saved, so without my dad's income, it will be hard for me to continue my studies and finish my degree.”

She wrote that her father is trusted at work by his managers and co-workers, and that he has taken care of his elderly parents for many years. At home he is a good husband and a good father. She attributes these qualities to his belief in Falun Gong.

“In this morally deteriorating society,” she wrote, “my dad is a good person who is always kind to others. He puts others’ interests before his own. But what allows him to behave that way? In fact, I do not practice Falun Gong, but I understand him and support his practicing Falun Gong. His moral and upright behavior benefits our family.”

“It hurts me to know my dad's arrest warrant is based on the premise of ‘undermining or sabotaging law enforcement.’ My dad has become a kind and compassionate person through practicing Falun Gong, and our lives have improved. He harms no one and does not violate any laws. He is a good person because he practices Falun Gong.”
