Ms. Liang Xiuyu Sues Jiang Zemin for Her Husband's Death

January 19, 2016 |   By a Minghui correspondent from Liaoning Province

(Minghui.org) Mr. Wu Yuan, a middle school teacher from Lingyuan City, Liaoning Province, was tortured until he died in a prison on December 10, 2003, at the age of 44.

His wife Ms. Liang Xiuyu charged Jiang Zemin, the former head of the Chinese communist regime, with having committed murder. She mailed her criminal complaint to the Supreme People's Court and the Supreme People's Procuratorate in July 2015.

Mr. Wu was arrested four times, twice in 1999 and once in 2000. He was detained for short periods of time during each of the first three arrests.

Arrested again for a fourth time on August 14, 2002, he was sentenced to a four year prison term three months later. His family was not notified of his trial. He was taken to the Dabei Prison in Shenyang.

His wife visited him in prison on September 6, 2003. He appeared to be in good physical condition and in good spirits. However his family was notified three months later that he was diagnosed with esophageal cancer.

When his wife saw him on December 10, 2003 in the hospital, he was emaciated and she could barely recognize him. But he was able to eat the food and the fruit she brought him. There did not seem to be any sign of esophageal cancer, as he swallowed the food without any problem.

The next morning, the prison official told his wife that he had passed away during the prior night. When his wife and other family members saw his body in the morgue in the afternoon, the body felt warm and his eyes were wide open. They cried and asked people to save him, but they were dragged away.

Two days later, when his family saw his body again, they saw bruises on his chest, back and waist.

Background

In 1999, Jiang Zemin, as head of the Chinese Communist Party, overrode other Politburo standing committee members and launched the violent suppression of Falun Gong.

The persecution has led to the deaths of many Falun Gong practitioners in the past 16 years. More have been tortured for their belief and even killed for their organs. Jiang Zemin is directly responsible for the inception and continuation of the brutal persecution.

Under his personal direction, the Chinese Communist Party established an extralegal security organ, the “610 Office,” on June 10, 1999. The organization overrides police forces and the judicial system in carrying out Jiang's directive regarding Falun Gong: to ruin their reputations, cut off their financial resources, and destroy them physically.

Chinese law allows for citizens to be plaintiffs in criminal cases, and many practitioners are now exercising that right to file criminal complaints against the former dictator.
