(Minghui.org) Ms. Wang Yongguang, 76, is a retired doctor from Urumqi, Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region. She filed the lawsuit against former Chinese dictator Jiang Zemin on August 17 for her suffering during the past years, including illegal detention, brainwashing, home ransacking and harassment, and her son's illegal imprisonment and forced labor term.
Ms. Wang's son, Mr. Wang Xiu, was arrested in July 2001. Their home was ransacked after his arrest, and their Falun Gong books and other materials were confiscated. The son was given two years of forced labor.
Their home was ransacked again in March 2002, after which she was arrested and detained for 10 days.
A month later, she was taken to a brainwashing center and kept for 45 days. She was monitored around the clock and went through intensive brainwashing sessions. The officials there deceived her and forced her to give up Falun Gong against her will. She was in anguish mentally and physically afterwards. She regretted her action and resumed her practice after she was released.
Local officials harassed her at her home many times. It started in 2001 and 2002. In mid-2009, after her son was sentenced to two years in prison, local officials came to her home several times threatening to arrest her, but failed to do so.
Ms. Wang suffered from several severe chronic illnesses before she practiced Falun Gong, including cirrhosis, progressive leg muscle atrophy, and severe hemorrhoids. They all disappeared after she began to practice Falun Gong in 1996.
In February 2001, she fractured her arm while getting off the bus due to a mistake by the ticketing clerk and the driver. But she considered other people first, and unlike what many people in China would do under similar circumstances, she did not seek financial compensation from the bus driver or clerk.
She had another bad accident in 2004, and again did not ask for compensation, or hospital treatment. Her leg was injured so badly that it would have been amputated under normal circumstances. But she recovered through Falun Gong practice.
In 1999, Jiang Zemin, as head of the Chinese Communist Party, overrode other Politburo standing committee members and launched the violent suppression of Falun Gong.
The persecution has led to the deaths of many Falun Gong practitioners in the past 16 years. More have been tortured for their belief and even killed for their organs. Jiang Zemin is directly responsible for the inception and continuation of the brutal persecution.
Under his personal direction, the Chinese Communist Party established an extralegal security organ, the “610 Office,” on June 10, 1999. The organization overrides police forces and the judicial system in carrying out Jiang's directive regarding Falun Gong: to ruin their reputations, cut off their financial resources, and destroy them physically.
Chinese law allows for citizens to be plaintiffs in criminal cases, and many practitioners are now exercising that right to file criminal complaints against the former dictator.
