Lawsuits Against Jiang Zemin Well Supported in Taiwan

(Minghui.org) The recent flood of lawsuits against the former Chinese leader Jiang Zemin for persecuting Falun Gong has received the widespread support in Taiwan.

Since May, over 165,000 Falun Gong practitioners in China and overseas filed criminal complaints against Jiang. According to Chinese criminal procedure law, any individual with knowledge of a crime can submit a criminal report to the Chinese Supreme Procuratorate and Court.

Tens of thousands of Taiwanese citizens have signed a criminal report form.

Lawyer in Miaoli: Bringing Jiang Zemin to Justice Will Protect Human Rights

Mr. Li Chenhua, a lawyer from Miaoli, said he is encouraged by the lawsuits and the fact that more than ten thousand Miaoli citizens have signed criminal report forms in support.

Mr. Li Chenhua strongly supports the lawsuits against Jiang.

Mr. Li said: “I respect those who have filed the lawsuits against Jiang. Falun Gong practitioners try to bring the beauty of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance to society, but have been persecuted. Bringing Jiang Zemin to justice will highlight what is right and what is wrong, and will protect human rights.”

The mayor of Toufen Town, Mr. Hsu Dingchen, called upon more Chinese people to support the lawsuits.

A long-term Falun Gong supporter, Mr. Hsu said, “The Chinese state-sanctioned organ harvesting from Falun Gong is horrifying. I strongly support the lawsuits against Jiang, the main culprit of the persecution.”

“I am glad to join the movement by signing a criminal report form. Jiang's crime of organ harvesting is unforgivable, and he should be punished,” Mr. Hsu said. “I hope the Chinese people will one day enjoy freedom and human rights, and I hope the Taiwanese government will take actions to help Falun Gong practitioners.”

Taoyuan: Twenty Thousand Residents Sign Criminal Report Forms

More than twenty thousand residents in Taoyuan signed criminal report forms against Jiang. Local Falun Gong practitioners have been actively raising awareness about the lawsuits. They set up booths at freshmen orientation on college campuses, and collected signatures at various community events.

Mr. Chiu, a board member of the local Lions Club, admires Falun Gong practitioners' courage. He hopes the persecution will end soon.

Mr. Cheng Baoching, the former president of the a local airline company, said, “We should call upon all governments to protect the freedom of religion, which is a basic human right.”

After signing the form, former legislative member Guo Rongzong said, “Falun Gong practitioners have had a positive impact on society. We should support them and help stop the persecution.”

City Council Member in Hsinchu: Suing Jiang Is a Righteous and Just Action

Mr. Chen said that suing Jiang is one of the best ways to expose the persecution of Falun Gong to the world. Mr. Hseng said that all the just people in the world should support the lawsuits.

Both council members said that suing Jiang is meaningful, and hoped that the Chinese court will hold trials against Jiang, and put pressure on the current leader to reverse the situation.

Mr. Yan Chifeng, the chair of the local Lions Club, invited 50 club members to sign the form. “Everybody should stand up and support it. This will exert pressure on the Chinese government, and force it to fix its own mistakes,” Mr. Yan said.
