September 26, 2015 |

(Minghui.org) Many Falun Gong practitioners are now exercising their legal right to sue Jiang Zemin for launching the persecution of Falun Gong and causing them great harm and tremendous suffering during the past 16 years. The momentum of this new wave of lawsuits against the former Chinese dictator is building.

The Minghui website receives copies of criminal complaints against Jiang from many practitioners daily. In this report, we present a snapshot of three practitioners whose copies of lawsuits were received by Minghui on September 14, 2015.

These lawsuits were mailed to the Supreme People's Court and Supreme People's Procuratorate, which are required to process all criminal complaints filed by citizens, as of a recent ruling by the Supreme People's Court.

These three practitioners are Ms. Gu Shurong, a pharmacist from Heilongjiang Province; Ms. Jin Xiulian, an accountant from Jiangxi Province; and Ms. Xia Xiuwen from Inner Mongolia.

Overview of the Selected Complaints:

Practitioner Ms. Gu Shurong (顾淑荣)

Profession: PharmacistHometown: Jixi City, Heilongjiang ProvinceDate filed: Recently

Key Facts

Ms. Gu Shurong has been detained in a labor camp three times—twice in Wanjia Forced Labor Camp and once in the Heilongjiang Province Women's Labor Camp.

She suffered much torture, which she described as “never heard of before.” Ms. Gu was forced to stand against the wall for extended hours, forced to stand outside in the winter cold without a coat for three hours, dragged around by her hair, force fed, ordered to do hard labor for 18 to 20 hours a day, made to sit on a small stool, not allowed to use the restroom, and deprived of sleep.

Her living conditions in the labor camp were dreadful. Most detainees developed scabies, and she could not sleep well for seven days straight because of the itching. Her eyesight became blurred. She felt chills all over her body, but she was forced to stand outside in frigid winter weather.

Her latest arrest and home ransacking happened on July 15, 2013. She escaped from the police station during a break in her interrogation and has lived away from home since then.

Current CircumstancesMs. Gu Shurong is still homeless.

Profession: AccountantHometown: Nanchang City, Jiangxi ProvinceDate filed: July 18, 2015

Key Facts

Ms. Jin Xiulian went to Beijing three times from 1999 to 2000 to tell the government about Falun Gong and was arrested every time.

During her first arrest, the deputy superintendent of the police station extorted money from her husband. The deputy superintendent said he needed money to remodel his home. Ms. Jin's supervisor was afraid of a backlash and fired her.

At her second arrest, her family was threatened. This frightened her mother so much that she began to cry every day.

On her third arrest, five police officers beat her for three hours. They yelled and cursed at her. “If we do not beat you to death, the bureau chief would say we are not working hard enough.”

The persecution against Ms. Jin has not stopped. Officers from the police station, the domestic security division, and state bureau constantly harass her and her family, and have made them live under constant fear and pressure.

Ms. Jin was taken to a brainwashing center three times, to a detention center four times, and to a labor camp once. Six of her relatives were either arrested or detained because she refused to give up her belief.

Background

In 1999, Jiang Zemin, as head of the Chinese Communist Party, overrode other Politburo standing committee members and launched the violent suppression of Falun Gong.

The persecution has led to the deaths of many Falun Gong practitioners in the past 16 years. More have been tortured for their belief and even killed for their organs. Jiang Zemin is directly responsible for the inception and continuation of the brutal persecution.

Under his personal direction, the Chinese Communist Party established an extralegal security organ, the “610 Office,” on June 10, 1999. The organization overrides police forces and the judicial system in carrying out Jiang's directive regarding Falun Gong: to ruin their reputations, cut off their financial resources, and destroy them physically.

Chinese law allows for citizens to be plaintiffs in criminal cases, and many practitioners are now exercising that right to file criminal complaints against the former dictator.
