September 25, 2015 |   By a Minghui correspondent in Shanxi Province, China

(Minghui.org) Two women from Xinzhou City, Shanxi Province were sent to the Shanxi Women’s Prison on September 6, 2015 for seeking justice over the persecution they suffered for their belief in Falun Gong. They had recently filed criminal against former dictator Jiang Zemin who initiated the persecution of Falun Gong in 1999.

Ms. Zhao Gaiping and Ms. Xu Jianping were prosecuted by the Xinzhou Justice Department and the Xinfu District Court, which cited their lawsuits as the reason for their sentencing. However, filing criminal complaints is legal in China.

Ms. Zhao Gaiping, 48, works at the Xinzhou Arts Institute. Ms. Xu Jianping, 52, works at the Shanxi Number Five Construction Company. On their way to visit their daughters in Beijing in May 2014, the pair was stopped by railway police officers at the Xinzhou Station. They were arrested for their belief in Falun Gong. Their homes were ransacked, and they were sentenced to three years in prison. Both were released on probation at the end of 2014.

After they filed separate lawsuits against Jiang Zemin in August 2015, the police arrested them. On August 29, they were sent to the Xinzhou City Detention Center. On September 6, police officers transferred both practitioners in handcuffs and shackles, to the Shanxi Women’s Prison to serve their full sentence.

Liu Jianguang, head of the 610 Office of Xinfu District, Xinzhou City, played a primary role in this case. Under his orders, the police and justice department personnel harassed and detained a number of practitioners for filing lawsuits against Jiang. Liu Jianguang refused to listen to the practitioners who tried to explain to him why the persecution is wrong and illegal. He threatened the practitioners with jail sentences and forced them to write statements renouncing Falun Gong.
