8 Plaintiffs Met by Police for Suing Former Chinese Dictator; 3 Still Detained

August 04, 2015 |   By a Minghui correspondent in Liaoning Province, China

(Minghui.org) The Minghui website has received copies of over 120,000 criminal complaints filed against Jiang Zemin between the end of May and late July. The complaints charge the former Communist Party leader with the unlawful imprisonment and torture of Falun Gong practitioners as part of his violent campaign to suppress the spiritual practice since 1999.

Between July 15 and July 20, Domestic Security police in Lingyuan, Liaoning Province harassed and arrested eight Falun Gong practitioners who mailed criminal complaints against Jiang to the Supreme People's Procuratorate. The police indicated that because of the lawsuits, they had to take the practitioners in for “investigation and questioning.” Three of the practitioners remain in detention at the time of writing.

Ms. Wang Yulan from Bainiuqun Village was arrested on July 15. Officers attempted to send her to a detention center, but she did not pass the physical exam and was released after being fined 1,000 yuan.

Mr. Li Sheng from Daoerdengxiang was arrested on July 15 while distributing informational materials about the persecution of Falun Gong. He is held in the Dahenan Detention Center.

Mr. Ling Xiaohui from Nandajie was outside his apartment building on July 16 when several policemen attempted to break into his residence. He managed to escape.

Mr. Wen Honglin and Mr. Zhang Tianming were arrested by officers from the Mohudian Police Station on July 17. Mr. Wen's home was raided, and he is being held in the Dahenan Detention Center, where he began a hunger strike to protest his illegal detention. Mr. Zhang was released on the same day, as it was his mother who the police wanted. Officers then ordered his wife (also a practitioner) to report to the police station, but she refused.

Mr. Liu Dandan from Linggang Hospital was arrested at his home on July 20. He is being held in the Zhaoyang City Xidayingzi Detention Center.

Jiao Yanhua and Feng Guofu escaped arrest because they were not at home when the police appeared at their respective residences.

Background

In 1999, Jiang Zemin, as head of the Chinese Communist Party, overrode other Politburo standing committee members and launched the violent suppression of Falun Gong.

The persecution has led to the deaths of thousands of Falun Gong practitioners over the past 16 years. More have been tortured for their belief and even killed for their organs. Jiang Zemin is directly responsible for the inception and continuation of the brutal persecution.

Under his personal direction, the Chinese Communist Party established an extralegal security organ, the “610 Office,” on June 10, 1999. The organization overrides police forces and the judicial system in carrying out Jiang's directive regarding Falun Gong: to ruin their reputations, cut off their financial resources, and destroy them physically.

Chinese law now allows for citizens to be plaintiffs in criminal cases, and many practitioners are exercising that right to file criminal complaints against the former dictator.
