(Minghui.org) At least five Falun Gong practitioners in Ji County, Tianjin have been imprisoned for their beliefs since January 2015.
Ms. Chen Ruiqin was taken to Tianjin Women’s Prison in 2015.
She was arrested for distributing informational materials about the persecution of Falun Gong by officers from the Ji County Domestic Security Division and the Wenchangjie Police Station on May 16, 2014, She was tried on August 13, 2014.
Ms. Kong Yucui (4.5 years)
Ms. Kong Yucui, in her 70, is also held in Tianjin Women’s Prison. She was tried and sentenced in January 2015.
She appealed the sentence, and her family hired an attorney. However, the Tianjin Intermediate Court upheld the sentence without a new trial.
Ms. Kong was arrested by Shangcang Police on November 2, 2014 for talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong.
Ms. Hao Shuyan was tried three times and sentenced in April 2015. Her family is appealing the verdict.
She was arrested at home by officers from the Houjiaying Town Police Station on July 22, 2014.
Ms. Liu Shuqin (3.5 years)
The family of Ms. Liu Shuqin, in her 70s, is appealing her verdict.
She was arrested by officers from the Luzhuangzi Police Station on September 20, 2014, for talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong.
Ms. Wang Shuli (trial ongoing)
Ms. Wang Shuli was to be tried for a third time on August 6, 2015. The judge did not allow her relatives to attend the trial, claiming that they did not have their identification cards with them.
Her attorney argued that the trial was open to the public and that Ms. Wang’s relatives had already passed the court’s security check, and thus had the right to attend. This argument ended in a deadlock, and the judge adjourned and rescheduled the hearing for September 8, 2015.
Ms. Wang was arrested by officers from the Shangcang Police Station and Ji County Domestic Security Division on September 18, 2014, for talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong. She has been detained at the Ji County Detention Center for almost a year.
