504 Falun Gong Practitioners from Linghai City, Liaoning Province Sue Jiang Zemin between Late May and August 12, 2015

August 24, 2015 |

(Minghui.org) A total of 504 Falun Gong practitioners from Linghai City, Liaoning Province have filed criminal complaints against Jiang Zemin between May 27 to August 12, 2015, according to reports compiled by the Minghui website.

The practitioners charge the former Chinese dictator with initiating the brutal suppression of Falun Gong and hold him responsible for the tremendous suffering inflicted upon them by his campaign. The criminal complaints were mailed to the Supreme People's Court and Supreme People's Procuratorate.

From late May to August 13, the Minghui website has received copies of criminal complaints filed by 146,883 Falun Gong practitioners and their family members against Jiang Zemin, who launched the persecution of Falun Gong in 1999. In the week of August 7 to 13, a total of 10,820 cases were filed against Jiang.

Simply for refusing to give up their belief, Falun Gong practitioners were arrested, detained, tortured, and had their homes ransacked and personal belongings seized by the communist authorities. Many also saw their families implicated for their belief, while some were also forced to pay huge fines.

Below, we profile a few of these practitioners from Linghai City, Liaoning Province:

60-Year-Old Subjected to Electric Shocks, Repeatedly Assaulted

In the early morning of July 6, 2011, police broke into Ms. Niu Jiqiu's home and took her to the Jinzhou Detention Center after ransacking her place. She was beaten and forced to do manual labor. Later, she was sentenced to three years and seven months in Shenyang Women's Prison, where she was subjected to cruel torture.

“Police officer Guo Xu once shocked my back with an electric baton. It was very painful. After that, she ordered two inmates to hold me upside down for several minutes. She started slapping my face with the soles of her shoes until she was exhausted. She then told inmates to tie me up and stuffed my mouth with a dirty rag. They punched and kicked me.

“I was bruised around my eyes, which started bleeding. My eyeballs hurt badly, and tears kept running down my face... Even today, scars from the electric shocks are still visible on my back. My body still hurts, and I cannot see things clearly,” Ms. Niu wrote in her complaint.

75-Year-Old Retired Teacher Beaten

Ms. Dong Yajun was taken to Linghai Police Station on September 12, 2001. Earlier, the police had broken into and ransacked her home when she and her husband were out. The officers punched and kicked her, then tied her arms behind her back.

The next day, police took her to a detention center office, where one of them began to strike her buttocks with a meter-long wooden board, demanding to know where she obtained Falun Gong materials. She refused to answer. The police continued hitting her until she collapsed.

Ms. Dong was detained for 15 days and released only after the police had extorted 3,000 yuan from her family.

Couple Sent to Prison and Labor Camp

Ms. Ren Guixia from Jincheng Township of Linghai was illegally detained eight times. The last instance took place on February 25, 2008, when police broke into her house early in the morning and arrested her and her husband. Officers also took away over 20,000 yuan in cash.

The couple were held in Linghai Detention Center for two months before they were taken to Jinzhou Detention Center, where they were detained for another two months.

On May 12, 2008, Ms. Ren was sentenced to three years in Shenyang Women's Prison. Her husband was given two years of forced labor earlier and taken to Jinzhou Forced Labor Camp.

Ms. Ren was abused in prison so badly that she had to be taken to the prison hospital several times for emergency treatment. She was given medical parole on December 7, 2009, when her life was in grave danger.

Five Family Members Sent to Prison, Forced Labor

Ms. Li Jinqiu and four of her family members were arrested on September 13, 2009. The police tricked Ms. Li and her husband into opening the door and arrested the couple. Their son Zhang Lei was also arrested at work that morning. In the afternoon, Ms. Li's daughter-in-law and her mother were also arrested from their own homes.

Ms. Li's son was later sentenced to five years in prison; the rest of the family members were detained in Masanjia Forced Labor Camp for one year.

“On November 27, I was tortured by a group of guards. They tied one of my feet to a radiator, and then pulled my other leg upward. It was very painful. They then pulled my legs hard in opposite directions. I felt as if my hips were being torn apart with unbearable pain. I almost passed out,” Ms. Li recounted her suffering in her complaint.

“My legs became deformed and very weak after the torture, and my body was covered with bruises. I could not walk and had to be helped back to the cell. At around 4:00 am, I was taken away for more torture...”

Two weeks later, Mr. Zhang was given three years in Jinzhou Forced Labor Camp for possessing four Falun pictures and two Falun Gong books.

In the labor camp, practitioners were deprived of food, water, sleep, even use of the toilet for refusing to renounce their belief. When Mr. Zhang declared that the statements he had been forced to write were null and void, a police officer hit the top of his head with a wooden board. The resulting lumps on his head are still visible today.

When she refused to open the door, they brought in a portable crane, smashed her windows, and arrested her. Ms. Li was given only a little food every day and was deprived of sleep at night. When she was released a month later, her health had deteriorated, and she developed symptoms of insomnia and schizophrenia, which caused her enormous suffering for nearly ten years.

Background

In 1999, Jiang Zemin, as head of the Chinese Communist Party, overrode other Politburo standing committee members and launched the violent suppression of Falun Gong.

The persecution has led to the deaths of thousands of Falun Gong practitioners over the past 16 years. More have been tortured for their belief and even killed for their organs. Jiang Zemin is directly responsible for the inception and continuation of the brutal persecution.

Under his personal direction, the Chinese Communist Party established an extralegal security organ, the “610 Office,” on June 10, 1999. The organization overrides police forces and the judicial system in carrying out Jiang's directive regarding Falun Gong: to ruin their reputations, cut off their financial resources, and destroy them physically.

Chinese law now allows for citizens to be plaintiffs in criminal cases, and many practitioners are exercising that right to file criminal complaints against the former dictator.
