179 Falun Gong Practitioners from Penglai City, Shandong Province Sue Jiang Zemin between Late May and Mid August

August 21, 2015 |

(Minghui.org) A total of 179 Falun Gong practitioners from Penglai City, Shandong Province have filed criminal complaints against Jiang Zemin between May 24 and August 12, 2015, according to reports compiled by the Minghui website.

The practitioners charge the former Chinese dictator with initiating the brutal suppression of Falun Gong and hold him responsible for the tremendous suffering inflicted upon them by his campaign. The criminal complaints were mailed to the Supreme People's Court and Supreme People's Procuratorate.

Many of these practitioners recounted how Falun Gong returned them to health and gave them a new outlook on life. Their dream to live a healthier and happier life, however, was shattered when Jiang Zemin launched a nationwide campaign to eradicate the practice in 1999.

Simply for refusing to give up their belief, they were arrested, detained, tortured, and had their homes ransacked and personal belongings seized by the communist authorities. Many also saw their families implicated for their belief, while some were also forced to pay huge fines.

The Penglai practitioners who filed criminal complaints include people from all walks of life, includingmany retirees.

Five Practitioners Recall Arbitrary Detentions, Torture

Ms. Cai Yucong (蔡玉聪), 62, was twice sent a forced labor camp for three years each time. She was held in detention centers ten times, for about 200 days altogether, and her home was ransacked five times. She was subjected to brainwashing, sleep deprivation, and other torture. She was also denied family visits. Her legs became very swollen, and her skin began to peel from being forced to stand still for hours at a time for several days.

Ms. Cong Shuhua (丛淑华) is a 60-year-old retired schoolteacher. She was held in detention centers three times, arrested and had her home ransacked eight times, and sent to a brainwashing center once. Her child cannot find employment because he is related to a Falun Gong practitioner.

Mr. Jia Yu (贾玉), 72, was arrested a total of five times, and had over 10,000 yuan extorted from him. He had to leave home for one year to avoid further persecution.

Ms. Li Yifang (李宜芳) was arrested twice and detained for a total of 45 days. Repeated harassment and fear caused her husband to fall ill, and he passed away in 2004. With no income, Ms. Li struggles to get by.

Mr. Zhang Xingzhou (张兴周), 73, was held in detention and brainwashing centers seven times, and sent to prison with his wife in 2003. He was force-fed, denied toilet use, and doused with cold water for several hours in winter. He almost died from the torture in prison.

Background

In 1999, Jiang Zemin, as head of the Chinese Communist Party, overrode other Politburo standing committee members and launched the violent suppression of Falun Gong.

The persecution has led to the deaths of many Falun Gong practitioners in the past 16 years. More have been tortured for their belief and even killed for their organs. Jiang Zemin is directly responsible for the inception and continuation of the brutal persecution.

Under his personal direction, the Chinese Communist Party established an extralegal security organ, the “610 Office,” on June 10, 1999. The organization overrides police forces and the judicial system in carrying out Jiang's directive regarding Falun Gong: to ruin their reputations, cut off their financial resources, and destroy them physically.

Chinese law allows for citizens to be plaintiffs in criminal cases, and many practitioners are now exercising that right to file criminal complaints against the former dictator.
