(Minghui.org) A Falun Gong practitioner's son recently filed a criminal complaint with China's Supreme People's Court and Supreme People's Procuratorate against former dictator Jiang Zemin for his father's false imprisonment.
“Right now, my father is still detained at the Dongkou County Detention Center for talking to the public about the persecution [against Falun Gong]. Although the procuratorate rejected his case in early July due to insufficient evidence, the police still refuse to release him. I want to seek justice for him,” stated the son.
Mr. Xiang Youhai, in his seventies, is a retired elementary school teacher from Dongkou County, Hunan Province.
“My father was one of the students' most favorite teachers at his school. At home, he often teaches us to be considerate of others. When conflicts arise, he teaches us to look within ourselves and not complain,” wrote his son.
His son continued, “He is a great father to me. But because of his belief in Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, he has been repeatedly persecuted by the Communist Party.”
Mr. Xiang was arrested six times and held at brainwashing centers and detention centers several times over the past 16 years. He was beaten and interrogated while in police custody in 2007. His home was ransacked twice and he was extorted twice for a total of 7,000 yuan.
According to his son, Mr. Xiang's latest arrest took place on May 3, 2015. Staff from the Dongkou Domestic Security Division ransacked his home the following afternoon.
The police and 610 Office fabricated evidence and submitted his case to the procuratorate in an attempt to sentence him.
His family hired a human rights lawyer to defend his innocence. The lawyer went to the procuratorate in mid-June and demanded that the prosecutors release his client.
His family was informed by the lawyer on July 10 that the procuratorate had returned Mr. Xiang's case to the police, but the police still keep him detained.
In 1999, Jiang Zemin, as head of the Chinese Communist Party, overrode other Politburo standing committee members and launched the violent suppression of Falun Gong.
The persecution has led to the deaths of many Falun Gong practitioners during the past 16 years. More have been tortured for their belief and even killed for their organs. Jiang Zemin is directly responsible for the inception and continuation of the brutal persecution.
Under his personal direction, the Chinese Communist Party established an extralegal security organ, the 610 Office, on June 10, 1999. The organization overrides police forces and the judicial system in carrying out Jiang's directive regarding Falun Gong: to ruin their reputations, cut off their financial resources, and destroy them physically.
Chinese law allows for citizens to be plaintiffs in criminal cases, and many practitioners are now exercising that right to file criminal complaints against the former dictator.
