Two Qiqihar Practitioners Arrested for Merely Talking About Falun Gong

(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioners, Ms. Yang Xiuhua, 50, and Ms. Yu Guimin, 58, were arrested on May 1, 2015 and have been held in custody since.

The two women were telling people about Falun Gong outside a busy supermarket when someone reported them to the police. The police chief of the Hongan Police Station, Li Ruixin, sent officers to the scene. The officers roughed up the practitioners and took them back to the police station.

They were body searched and Ms. Yang's house key was taken. At around 7 p.m that evening, police entered Ms Yang's house with her key. No one was at home. They searched it without a warrant and removed a laptop, Falun Gong books, and other personal belongings.

Ms. Yang works as a custodian in a local steel company. Ms. Yu is a retired accountant. She is a widow and her daughter works in another district. The families of both women are extremely concerned about their safety.

On May 2 around 2 p.m, Ms. Yang was transferred to Qiqihar Detention Center.It was reported that guards at the Qiqihar Detention Center punished Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Chen Hong for doing Falun Gong exercises. She was made to wear heavy shackles on her hands and legs for six months. Now she walks bent over from wearing the shackles.
