(Minghui.org) When we discovered that we were going to have a baby girl, my husband and I were overjoyed.
It was a blow when we were informed that our little girl had congenital heart disease. She was only one year old at the time.
I took her to several hospitals and the diagnosis was confirmed.
Our daughter was very weak. A small cold soon developed into a lung infection. Our doctor did an IV for her. Instead of curing her infection, she soon had a 104° fever. Her little face turned red with fever.
The doctor tried several medications to bring down the fever but nothing helped. Even the doctor was confounded.
I was desperate. I took her to a bigger hospital, seeking better treatment.
My little girl's health worsened. She couldn't breathe, especially when she had a cold. Whenever this happened, she had to stay in the hospital for at least a week. Less than ten days after we took her back home, we had to send her to the hospital again.
My husband quit his job to care for our daughter. We worried about her all the time.
The doctor told us that an allergy was causing her breathing difficulty. We tested her for different allergens. We discovered that she was allergic to eggs and rice, the food that she ate every day.
I prepared noodles for her, which she didn't like at all. She became thinner and thinner.
Some friends suggested that her difficulty in breathing might be because of a low immune function, so I looked for food that could increase her immunity. I chopped her food into small pieces and tried different ways to cook her food. We tried everything.
Nothing eased my daughter's suffering. Her sleep was affected. Sometimes she would wake up out of breath just five minutes after she fell asleep. My husband and I could not sleep for fear that she might wake up during the night needing us.
On one hospital visit, she suddenly couldn't breathe. She held my arm tightly. She was immediately sent to the intensive care unit.
The doctor said she was in grave danger. If treatment did not work, her heart could fail.
Her arms were tied to the bed to prevent her from falling off. We weren't allowed to stay with her and could only see her through a monitoring camera for two or three minutes each day. The most important part of our day was to go to the hospital and watch our daughter through the monitor.
It was such a torment for me to see her in so much pain.
Despite the high cost of her care, my husband said he would pay anything to cure our daughter's illness. Even so, the treatment could only keep her alive, and not cure her heart ailment completely. She was suffering so much at such a young age.
In my heart, I knew that Falun Dafa was the only way to save her. I had heard that this ancient meditation practice had cured illnesses for millions of people. But the sudden persecution started by the government on July 20, 1999 took away the opportunity for many people to continue the practice, including myself.
I had practiced for less than a year before the persecution started, but the practice stayed with me deep in my heart. I had seen many positive influences of Falun Dafa in myself, both physically and spiritually. This is something that once you study it, you will never forget.
After I married, I wanted to pick up the practice again. But my husband was influenced by the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) demonizing propaganda and would not allow me to read Zhuan Falun or do the exercises. I was very frustrated, but didn't know how to change the situation.
But now, I prayed to Master to save my daughter.
On the eighth day that my daughter was in intensive care, the doctor asked me to take her for a physical checkup. When she was handed to me after being given an injection, she was sleeping soundly.
Her face was white. Her lips were chapped. Her body was full of needle marks. I couldn't imagine how much she had suffered in the past eight days.
As I carried her, I repeated softly, “Falun Dafa is good! Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good!” in her ear.
Without any outward signs, changes were taking place in her.
The doctor said that her situation was now stable and they would transfer her to the general ward.
As my daughter was moved from intensive care, she was so weak she could not lift her head. Nurses tried giving her another infusion, but after so many injections there was no place on her body to inject the needle.
Then we were told that our daughter would have major heart surgery.
I didn't want her to have the operation. I felt she was too weak to withstand the surgery. I prayed to Master, asking for guidance as to whether to have the surgery or not.
I said to Master in my heart, whether or not she had the surgery, I would study Falun Dafa with her when she returned home. I was determined that no one would stop me.
I told the doctor that I didn't want her to have the surgery. To my surprise, he agreed and we took her home.
I was very excited. I knew that Master was helping us.
As soon as we got home, I played Master's lectures and recited “Falun Dafa is good! Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good!” to our daughter.
My husband saw that nothing else had worked, so he did not stop me from teaching her Falun Dafa.
On the first night back from the hospital, my daughter began to vomit. She would usually have great difficulty breathing after she vomited. But this time, she slept soundly. I knew that Master was purifying her body.
I played Master's lectures to her every day and asked her to recite “Falun Dafa is good.” Her situation improved each and every day. She never returned to the hospital.
My husband became very supportive of me practicing Falun Dafa after seeing our daughter's changes. He made a special stand to place Master's portrait in our home.
Upon learning of my daughter's story, my best friend asked me how to study Falun Dafa.
My daughter is now three. She is healthy and energetic. She is very smart and learns new things quickly. She can recite Master's poems and has already memorized more than a hundred Chinese characters.
The light of Falun Dafa shines on my family.
