Ms. Liang Yilin Detained Beyond Legal Limit

May 10, 2015 |   By a Minghui correspondent from Beijing, China

(Minghui.org) Ms. Liang Yilin, a Falun Gong practitioner from Dongguan City, Guangdong Province, was illegally detained for more than 37 days, the maximum length of detention without an arrest warrant permitted under Chinese law. The local Procuratorate later approved the arrest and planned to prosecute her with falsified evidence.

The attorney hired by her family went to see Ms. Liang on April 27, 2015. The attorney saw that she was emaciated after being on a hunger strike for 12 days to protest the persecution. She was force-fed through her nose, with food mixed with sleeping pills.

Earlier in March, guards punished Ms. Liang for shouting “Falun Dafa is good! Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good!” They stuffed her mouth with a rag, handcuffed her in the toilet for 12 days, and fed her only two pieces of carrot each day.

Ms. Liang was arrested on March 14, 2015, for talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong. She was taken first to the Quantang Police Station in Liaobu Town and then to the Shangqiao Detention Center the next day.

She was working at odd jobs in Liaobu Town, Dongguan City, at the time.
