(Minghui.org) Before I retired I taught at a township high school in the southern mountainous area of Jilin Province.
When I was still teaching in 2008, I was in bad shape and felt cold all the time. When others were wearing fashionable spring and autumn clothing, I had to wear a heavy down coat. I felt terrible from head to toe, and I looked unhealthy. My heart felt like it was being squeezed, and I was so depressed that I always wanted to cry.
I went all over the place seeking help. Doctors said I had mental problems. Buddhists asked me to take up Buddhism, so I visited temples. Christians asked me to believe in Jesus, so I went to church. I also visited several witch doctors. I spent a lot of money trying to find a cure for my condition.
Desperate, I started to buy my own drugs. Because my family ran a pharmacy, it was easy for me to get whatever I wanted. I started choosing medications for my symptoms by reading the instructions on the bottles. Yet after several months my condition worsened.
One afternoon I got a call from someone I had gone to middle school with. He told me that another former classmate had come home, and that a bunch of us were going to get together. They all listened to my plight and were very sympathetic. Some of them suggested that I go to a hospital in a big city, and others suggested folk remedies.
It was dark after we finished eating, and pouring rain. Most of us lived nearby, except for me. I lived in the countryside and it would take more than an hour to get home by taxi, which would be almost impossible to find given the rain. A classmate I was particularly close to said, “Please don’t go home tonight. Stay with me and we can have a nice visit.”
It turned out that she was a Falun Gong practitioner. I told her that I was originally an English teacher, and later became a politics teacher because there was a shortage of them at my school.
She asked, "Are you teaching politics now? Tell me, what is in the textbooks?" I said, "Ideological and moral education, the Falun Gong Tiananmen Square self-immolation incident (Note: An event staged by the CCP to discredit Falun Gong), and..."
Before I could finish, she stopped me, “Stop! You're doing something very bad. You are harming yourself but don’t know it. You may be ill because of what you're teaching.”
I was completely confused. I didn't think that I had done anything wrong, as following the textbooks was a teacher's responsibility.
She explained to me in detail about the tremendous mental and physical improvements she experienced after starting Falun Gong cultivation practice, and how Falun Gong has spread around the world. She then told me that the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) had staged the Tiananmen Square self-immolation incident to give Falun Gong a bad name. She also talked about the CCP’s crime of forced organ harvesting from living Falun Gong practitioners for profit.
She told me about the publication of the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party and the overwhelming trend to withdraw from the CCP and its affiliated organizations.
I was so shocked at what she said that I could not sleep that night. What disturbed me most was that the CCP—a political party that claimed to be "great, glorious, and correct"—dared to make up such lies in front of more than one billion Chinese, not to mention the rest of the the world. The forced organ harvesting, especially, was inexcusable! I was ashamed to be associated with such an evil organization, and I immediately quit the CCP and its affiliated organizations.
I also started to understand something. In the few months that I had been teaching the politics classes, I never felt well. I also realized that the reason two previous politics teachers suddenly became seriously ill was because they were spreading slander about Falun Gong.
The first one had suddenly collapsed, and then felt tired all the time. He often fell for no reason, even while sitting in bed. An exam revealed that he had an irregular heartbeat. He has been recuperating at home and is no longer able to work.
The second one was a pretty young female teacher. Soon after she started teaching politics, she started having leg pains while sitting or standing. The pain intensified when she walked. She sought help from both Western and Chinese medicine for more than a month, but neither helped.
The third one was me. I had thought that teaching the politics class would mean fewer teaching hours, and that my workload would be reduced. In my mind I even thanked the school administration for taking care of me in my old age by giving me such an easy position. Soon after I started teaching politics, however, I started having the symptoms I described above. My classmate’s words woke me up.
The next morning, she gave me copies of Zhuan Falun, Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party, Minghui Weekly, and Zhengjian Weekly, which I took home.
The first thing I did after I got home was take a few days off from work, using my health problems as an excuse. I read through Zhuan Falun once, and felt from the bottom of my heart that the book was truly great. I found answers to life-long questions in the profound principles of the Fa. I have cultivated Falun Gong ever since.
All my symptoms disappeared within two weeks, and I became full of vitality. All the people I knew said that I had become a different person. With hints from Master, and fellow practitioners’ help, I was able to stop teaching politics, and start a new job. I then had more time to study the Fa.
I now often think that I am the luckiest person in the whole world. It is said that, "It is difficult to have a human body, it is difficult to be born in the East, and it is difficult to obtain the righteous Fa.” I have obtained all these things that are difficult to obtain.
At the same time my heart was heavy, because thousands of my colleagues (teachers) were still being deceived by the evil CCP, and they, in turn, were poisoning thousands of innocent students. I have been trying to save them, but the results have not been as good as I would like. There are no other practitioners nearby, and I feel that my abilities are limited.
Schools in rural areas lack information, and many people still believe the CCP lies. When I told them that the Tiananmen Square self-immolation was staged by the CCP, many of them did not want to listen to me or believe me. When I sent them letters explaining the facts about Falun Gong, they tore them up.
The Party branch secretary of my school was also a former classmate. He worked very hard to implement the evil Party’s various campaigns, such as "keeping fresh," "maintaining stability," "harmonious society," and others. He had become an exemplary teacher in the province.
Groups from other areas often came to tour our school and be trained. At teachers’ conferences my friend the Party secretary always emphasized, “Don't believe and don't participate in Falun Gong.” I tried several times to explain the facts to him, but he refused to listen. I asked other practitioners from the city to talk to him about Falun Gong, but he still could not accept the facts. He significantly interfered with my efforts to save the teachers at our school.
As he was confidently carrying out the evil Party's will to advance his career, retribution quietly overtook him. His only son, who had just graduated from a university, was diagnosed with late stage lung cancer, and died within a month. He and his wife were grief-stricken. Without their son they lost hope. Even though they were both in their fifties, they adopted a child. People who do not know their situation think that they are the child's grandparents.
Whenever I see his lifeless eyes, my heart trembles. Every time I think that my classmates and colleagues might not be saved, I feel anxious. I sincerely call on every practitioner to increase his or her efforts to clarify the truth to the people in the educational community to save these innocent teachers and children!
Thank you, Master, and thank you, fellow practitioners. Please point out anything that is not based on the Fa.
