Wife Appeals to Shanghai Judges and Prosecutors on Behalf of Detained Husband

March 01, 2015 |   By a Minghui correspondent in Shanghai

(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Yan Xihong, resident of Fengxian District of Shanghai, was arrested by local Domestic Security police for mailing Falun Gong informational materials on May 12, 2014.

He is facing trial on the charge of “utilizing a cult to undermine law enforcement,” a line the communist regime uses regularly to sentence practitioners in its campaign to suppress Falun Gong.

Mr. Yan has been arrested three times prior.

Below is a letter of appeal from Ms. Lu Bo, Mr. Yan's wife, to the judges and prosecutors handling his case.

I am a stay-at-home mother taking care of three children. My oldest daughter is in the third year of middle school, my son is five years old, and my youngest daughter is two years old. We lived a happy and peaceful life.

On May 12, several police vehicles came to my home and took my whole family to the local police station. My three children and I were released after four o'clock the next morning. My two youngest ones were so frightened by the arrest that they often cry uncontrollably at night until they fall asleep. My son has been afraid to go to kindergarten since the arrest.

At the end of August, I was notified to go to the court for the official statement of charges. On my way back home with my two youngest kids, my son got separated from us and got lost. A good Samaritan brought him to the Nanqiao Police Station. At the police station, he kept crying without saying anything to the officers because he has lost all trust in the police.

My younger daughter often asks me, “When will Daddy come home? Why would the police not let him come home?” I don't have an answer, as I know that my husband has not committed any crime to be detained for eight months and to be tried in court.

Our entire family's financial security rested on my husband's shoulders. After he was arrested, the daily operation of his company has stopped, and it is now facing bankruptcy. His mother, in her 70's, lives in their hometown. She has poor health and was hospitalized last year. All her daily and medical expenses come from the company we own.

My husband and I both grew up in rural households and had a lot of hardship in our childhoods. Through hard work, he saved some money after paying off his student loan. At the time, his father was diagnosed with cancer. My husband spent all his savings on his father's medical expenses but could not save his life. On his way home from his father's funeral, he barely escaped a car accident.

His experiences made him rethink the meaning of life. When he started to practice Falun Gong, he finally had a new outlook on life. He then began conducting himself strictly according to the requirements of Falun Gong. He refused any kickbacks from his clients and held himself to a high moral standard.

After he started his own company, he has been considerate of his clients and strictly controlled the product quality to fulfill his responsibility. In his personal life, he has been willing to offer help to anyone. All of our relatives and friends and people who know him agree that my husband is a good and kindhearted person. He used to suffer chronic nosebleeds, which could not be cured after years of medication. After practicing Falun Gong, that problem disappeared without a trace.

The purpose of the court is to uphold justice. I hope you will not comply with the wrong policy to persecute innocent people. Please take a stand on the correct side and return my husband to freedom.
