(Minghui.org) I would like to share an observation that I made during a recent trip to Hong Kong.
Two large banners were hung at a Falun Gong truth-clarification site near the Tung Chung Bus Terminal. The banners were very eye-catching and powerful, especially to people from the mainland.
We were happy to see the site and envied the Hong Kong practitioners who were able to devote a lot of time to save sentient beings at this place. Although we did not have time to stop and say hello the first time we passed it, we returned around noon and sent forth righteous thoughts nearby to support the practitioners.
As a modernized city, Hong Kong is full of people who dress trendy or “cool” and look confident and comfortable. Compared to passersby, fellow practitioners looked shabby and careless about their looks and how they dressed. I also noticed that one of the three practitioners at the site was wearing a pair of black gloves, even though it was a hot day.
On the one hand, I admired these practitioners who were able to carry out the mission of saving sentient beings, despite harsh conditions on such a hot day. Yet, on the other hand, I was concerned for how our fellow practitioners may be viewed by the public.
I recalled an experience of mine in clarifying the truth about Falun Gong to a close relative. He commented that practitioners clarifying the truth in front of an embassy in a foreign country looked like “a group of panhandlers.” It was unfair for him to say that, since practitioners were working hard to save people and because he did not really know anything about their living conditions.
However, people who do not know the profound meaning behind practitioners' actions may find that practitioners who do not dress up to social norms are a bit odd. They somehow do not fit into the social environment; therefore, they may avoid any contact with practitioners.
Practitioners at truth-clarification sites have done so much when it comes to saving people. Yet, I thought: Why not pay a little more attention to their looks and how they dress?
We need to approach people and allow them to accept us in the first place before they can receive information from us.
Practitioners who regularly go to truth-clarification sites might consider getting one or two waterproof Dafa windbreakers or jackets. These are both practical and presentable for such endeavors. Formal or elegant clothing would be fine, too. After all, we need to be presentable when doing the solemn task of saving people.
