Pharmacist Detained and Tortured for Filing Complaint Against Jiang Zemin

October 19, 2015 |   By a Minghui correspondent in Hubei Province, China

(Minghui.org) Tens of thousands of people in China and around the world have filed criminal complaints against Jiang Zemin recently. After having done so, however, some have been detained and further persecuted.

Mr. Xu Changhong, 48, from Xianning City, Hubei Province, and a pharmacist at the Tongjixianning Pharmacy, was arrested on July 22, a month after he had filedhis criminal complaint against Jiang Zemin. Agents from the local 610 Office arrested him at work. They took him to a brainwashing center, where he was tortured for 50 days.

Police issued a warrant only after he was arrested and then transferred him to the Xianning District Detention Center, where he remains.

Mr. Xu has been persecuted since the persecution of Falun Gong began. He and his wife Su Xiaolian were detained several times. Mr. Xu was arrested in October 1999 and held in a forced labor camp for a year. He was held in the Tongshan Detention Center for four months in 2002. He was arrested again in 2005 and sentenced to three years in prison.

His wife was arrested in August 2002 and held in the Wuhan Women's Drug Rehabilitation Center for two years.

The couple was arrested again in 2014 and taken to a brainwashing center. Their young child had to live with relatives.

Mr. Xu's home was ransacked in 2005, 2014, and 2015, but the police refused to provide a list of what was confiscated.

Background

In 1999, Jiang Zemin, as head of the Chinese Communist Party, overrode other members of the Politburo Standing Committee and launched the violent suppression of Falun Gong.

The persecution has led to the deaths of many Falun Gong practitioners over the past 16 years. More have been tortured for their belief and even killed for their organs. Jiang Zemin is directly responsible for the inception and continuation of the brutal persecution.

Under his personal direction, the Communist regime established an extralegal security organization, the 610 Office, on June 10, 1999. The organization overrides police forces and the judicial system in carrying out Jiang's directive regarding Falun Gong: to ruin their reputations, cut off their financial resources, and destroy them physically.

Chinese law allows its citizens to be plaintiffs in criminal cases, and many practitioners are now exercising that right to file criminal complaints against the former dictator.
